Intro.

I’ve been thinking about this Psalm all week

I have to admit, when I sat down to organize it into a message,

it was a struggle or me.

You have two people very obvious people here.

The Godly - also called the blessed

The ungodly

I. The blessed are focused on the Word of God

A. The blessed man avoids following the world

1. The counsel of the ungodly

a. The advice of the world

b. The philosophers

c. The physiologists

d. They psychiatrists

e. The psychics

f. They do not follow a world mindset

2. The way of the sinners.

a. Notice plural - the crowd

b. The guilty

e. The way of the world

3. The seat of the scornful.

a. “To make mouths at”

b. The scoffer of God’s word - doesn’t believe God’s Word.

c. The mocker - makes fun of God’s Word

d. Jack Van Impe’s story*

Prov. 30:33 … the wringing of the nose bringeth

forth blood:

B. His delight in in the Law of the Lord

1. He takes pleasure in the Word of God

a. He likes to read it.

b. He like’s to hear it preached

c. He like’s to study it

2. He meditates on it.

a. He thinks about it

b. Day and night

c. It’s always on his mind

II. The blessed are well grounded

1. Like a tree.

a. Strong and tall

b. Planted by rivers of water.

a. Not a dry river bed

b. Well watered

c. The Holy Spirit is often repented by water

d. It’s living water

2. Growing and productive

a. It’s produces fruit

d. It’s leave does not wither (Pine trees, or palm trees)

e. It’s prosperous

1. “To push forward”

2. It never stops growing

3. We never stop growing in the Word of God

III. The blessed are secure in the way.

A. Secure in walking with the Lord

B. Secure in know THE WAY - Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,

and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and

they follow me:

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they

shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of

my hand.

John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out

of my Father’s hand.John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

IV The ungodly are not so. Vs. 4

A. They are driven with with wind

1. Like the chaff

2. Driven away

3. They’ll go along with whatever comes along

a. Fads

b. Woke culture

B. There is no security

1. Will not stand in the judgment

2. Will be separated from the righteous.

3. The book of Life

Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

C. The way of the ungodly ends with the second death.

Conclusion

Are you in the congregation of the righteous?

- Saved

Or will you perish with the ungodly?

- Unsaved.

* Jack Van Impe (an evangelist) told the story of a scoffer who was mocking God's Word. He said "If you can prove to me the Bible is true, I'll believe it". The man who was listening (wither it was Jack Van Impe or someone else, I'm not sure) grabbed the man by the nose and twisted it until it bled. Then quoted Prov. 30:33 "… the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood:"
