Summary: This is a short devotional of how we should not add or take away from God's Word.

I titled this devotional (READ TITLE).

2 Timothy 3: 16-17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

Psalm 33:4 says, “For the word of the Lord is upright,

And all His work is done in faithfulness.”

I believe with all my heart that God’s Word is authentic and that I can base my life decisions on the Bible’s instructions. But in today’s world, so many people are trying to make the Bible say what they want it to say and are not taking God’s Word literally. People are either altering the wording, or they are taking phrases out of context and using that as their foundation of life. Some are even deleting words from the Bible because it goes against THEIR character and THEIR belief.

Rev. 22:18-19 states very clearly, “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”

Pencils may have erasers on them, but GOD'S Word was not written with a pencil and eraser to be edited as anyone and everyone could decide. That is what it seems like is happening in our society. Some of our churches are going along with changing the unchangeable Word of GOD. GOD'S Word is real and is just as real today as when it was written.

As we read the stories laid out to teach us from thousands of years ago, we find our world is not that different than the people of two thousand, even five thousand years ago. People know who GOD is, but instead of worshiping HIM they follow their own selfish desires. We continue today deciding what is best for us instead of yielding to GOD. GOD knows perfectly what is best for us. Even looking back with what we call hindsight, we continue on our own path of failure. GOD does not fail. We fail.

Today, we watch the division of the Methodist churches as some want to ignore the Bible. It is not just Methodists who are dealing with these issues. Society, is bringing pressure on all faiths to ignore what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches over and over these are not GODLY lifestyles.

"Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land." (Genesis 19:24-25) Read the story Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis, chapters 18 and 19. The world was as evil then as it is today.

We are to avoid evil. GOD commanded us to love HIM and to have no other gods above HIM. GOD must be above all else. If we love GOD above all else, we cannot choose things of this world.

We cannot rewrite the Bible. We cannot erase certain passages and believe only the parts we want to believe. GOD'S Word is true. Every word is true. Every word from Genesis through Revelation is absolutely true and must be understood and appreciated as GOD'S teachings to each and every one of us.

That’s the Word of God that God has called me to preach and I will not stray from it. Let God’s truths reign in your heart as you use His Word to guide your life.
