The fact that we are alive testifies that we have a race to run, and that it requires endurance. Such races often stem from extreme misfortune. Some suffer from health conditions, or conditions of their own making. In any case, everyone has a race set before them.

Note: I developed a simple set of homemade PowerPoint slides that I used in presenting this sermon. They're not fancy or professional quality, but if you're interested in having the PowerPoint file I will send it by Email. • The Pride Of Thine Heart Will Bring Thee Down

Contributed by Chris Swanson on Dec 4, 2022
     | 1,530 views

Edom was proud of its accomplishments, but in the long run, God would bring her down. Whether they are a nation, a business, a church, or a family, those in positions of authority should not be overly self-assured.

Obadiah is the shortest book of the Bible. It is titled The Vision of Obadiah as it prophesies the judgment to fall on the nation of Edom. The Edomites were descendants of Esau which made them related to the children of Israel (Genesis 25:19-27:45). Because of Edom's defiance of God, their ...read more

Jesus nicknamed James and John the "Sons of Thunder," because of their swift, brash and judgmental temperaments. They were ready to call down fire on people. But we see how the Spirit transformed John into the Apostle of Love. Has God changed you?

This message on reclaiming joy in your life deals with the sources of joy as well as paths toward recovering joy in your life.

    - When we’re stressed and distressed by the state of our lives, we find ourselves in pathetic condition: - we’re irritated by even the smallest inconveniences and problems, - we rarely laugh, - we’re quick to snap at people, - we flop into bed each night, exhausted, - we have no joy in our ...read more

  • Would You Let Your Kids Go To A Youth Group Run By Jesus?

Contributed by David Smith on Nov 2, 2007
     | 2,371 views

I imagine that, given the types of persons that huddled around Jesus, there would have, at the very least, been a fair bit of flirting going on at those gatherings.

We’re in Luke chapter 15, and Jesus appears to be partying again! Jesus was fond of saying that the Kingdom of God is like a party, and he seemed keen to illustrate that with his lifestyle, wherein he was a frequent guest at dinner parties and a not too infrequent host of spontaneous soirees. And ...read more

Just as the wine ran out at the wedding feast, so can our wine run out. Sometimes we experience "dry times" in our life and ministry. When the wine runs out, let's run to Jesus for He is the one Who turns the water into wine.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE WINE RUNS OUT? John 2:1-11 The first miracle of our Lord took place in a town called, Cana of Galilee. The event was a wedding. Cana was a inconspicuous little town that lay outside of Nazareth. Cana had no social prominence in its day! In fact, biblical scholars took 1800 ...read more

We run the race to obtain three incorruptible crowns, the crowns of righteousness, glory and life. The world runs the race to obtain a laurel leaf, corruptible crown.

The Christian journey can be described as a "race." We choose the kind of race we run -- fun and games; obligatory; or the long-term run.

    1. Last week we “passed the baton” in regard to teaching people the word of God from generation to generation and person to person. 2. It made me think of the ancient Roman Games and how they were used as illustrations for the Christian life. 3. The Games in Rome were a big deal. Although much of ...read more
