You know that cross necklace you wear, or the one you see people wearing? It's more than just a cool piece of jewelry. It's a symbol of something huge that happened a long time ago. Jesus died on a cross, and that changed everything. But why did He have to die, and why does it matter so much? Let's ...read more

JOHN 3:14. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.” This refers back to an incident during the wilderness wanderings of the children of Israel (cf. We face a greater Jordan to cross than the Children of Israel did. But because it is the same LORD who leads us, we shall cross impassible Jordan.
Crossing Jordan Joshua 3:7-17 Moses had taken Israel as far as he could. It wasn’t because Moses had succumbed to old age as Deuteronomy 34 tells us he was still vigorous. It is because He had failed earlier to glorify Yahweh in front of the people at Meribah and struck the rock in anger rather ...read more

This terrible river, lying at the bottom of the most spectacular gash upon the surface of the planet Earth, most of its course lying even below the level of the sea, is an astoundingly appropriate symbol of death. But a faith Step changes everything.

In today’s Gospel reading, Peter responds to Jesus’ announcement that the Messiah will have to suffer and die by denying the cross. Peter is in essence denying the truth of this teaching – that the Messiah must suffer and by extension, his disciples.
Last week we heard about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness right after his Baptism.
