Fourth Sunday Integral 2026 Today our Introit sings “Save us, O Lord our God and gather us from the nations to give thanks to your holy name and make it our glory to praise you.” Isn’t that a prayer that God take us to heaven? God is recognized in new manner.

The problem with happy is that it is linked with happenstance—it depends on what is happening to you. If you want to feel happy for a lifetime, become a Gardner, if you want to feel happy for a moment, eat a carb! Perfect happiness is “blessed” as is the Beatific Vision, and that is where the ...read more

Fifth Sunday Integral 2026 In today’s reading from the first letter to the church at Corinth, Paul tells the members of the congregation that he approached them not with lofty words or wisdom, but with feelings of—here’s the Greek—astheneia, phobos, tromos. That’s weakness, fear, trembling. This ...read more

Jesus is not offering a compliment. He is giving a mandate. He is defining both our identity and our mission.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls his disciples “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13–16). He is not offering a compliment. He is giving a mandate. He is defining both our identity and our mission. These images tell us how believers are meant to live within the world: ...read more

  • Fifth Sunday In Ordinary Time Year A-- 1/60th Of Salt

Contributed by Paul Andrew on Feb 7, 2026
     | 93 views

1/60 is 1.66%, adding this small amount of salt to food would not only be "flavorful" but would likely make the food taste quite salty!

For the Jewish people, 1/60th was the mathematical fraction if some non-Kosher food, like Korean Galbi -- marinated grilled beef or pork short ribs-- was accidently mixed-in to your Kosher food- it would still be OK to eat since 1/60th is such a small amount. Not 1/60th, but with lots of salt, ...read more

Contributed by Rev. Samuel Arimoro on Dec 28, 2025
     | 299 views

In Bible times, salt was precious. It preserved food from decay and added flavour. Light, on the other hand, dispelled darkness and revealed what was hidden. Jesus intentionally chose these metaphors to describe the influence believers must have in a fallen world.

  • Blessed… Praise Be!

Contributed by David Dunn on Jan 14, 2026
     | 268 views

The Beatitudes expose neutral faith, declaring where life with God truly exists and refusing to let blessing remain comfortable.

“Blessed…” That word is so familiar to us that it barely registers anymore. We hear it and we nod. We hear it and we assume we know what comes next. Blessed — we think — means approved. Comfortable. Favored. Safe. Almost instinctively, the response follows. Praise be. We say it quickly. We say ...read more

Reflecting Christ’s Character in the Last Days. Scripture describes a peculiar people, not withdrawn but faithful, following the Lamb, recognizable by reflecting Christ’s character, carrying truth that always walks alongside mercy together.

There are moments in the life of the church when the conversation feels heavier than usual. Not louder. Not angrier. Just heavier. You hear it in the way we talk about the times we’re living in. In phrases that surface again and again: “Things are accelerating.” “Prophecy is lining up.” “We’re ...read more

  • A Simple Metaphor Jesus Uses That Is Surprisingly Complicated Series

Contributed by Jim Butcher on Jan 27, 2026
     | 336 views

Jesus speaks here about "salt." It seems a simple word picture but it's more complicated than it first appears. What is Jesus trying to teach us here?

    - I’m going to take a deep dive into the words of Jesus here about salt. - At one level, this seems a simple metaphor. But I have long been frustrated that the actual words used here create some confusion. I leave with more questions than answers. Thus, I want to use this as an opportunity to dig ...read more

The Heart of Christmas: Peace proclaims that true, lasting peace is not found in circumstances but is announced at the manger, accomplished at the cross, and displayed through God’s reconciled people who live as peacemakers in a broken world through faith in Jesus Christ.
