Our earthly heritage isn't important, but our spiritual heritage is. Just as we reflect the image of our earthly fathers – so also we reflect the image of our spiritual father. If you want to know whether you’re a child of God or a child of the devil – just take a look in the mirror.

In John, there are a cluster of verbs Jesus wants from us, to be full disciples, and we have to hold them all together. If we focus too hard on "believing," we will misunderstand Jesus, and what he wants.
