Who is in control at Christ's trial? Pilate wanted to release Jesus but changed his mind. Caiaphas effectively blackmails Pilate into doing his will in getting rid of Jesus. But Jesus remains cool, charm and collective. The crowd who are stirred up in demanding the death of Jesus.

Jesus and the eleven left the upper room and walked to the mount of Olives. Jesus may have talked to them on the trip and/or before he took Peter, James and John further into the garden. Many of the familiar verses of comfort come from this conversation. Jesus also spoke of prophesies fulfilled.

John the Baptist is presented in the prologue of John's gospel as the prophesied forerunner to the arrival of God's Messiah. He prepared the people of Israel for the Messiah by preaching repentance and obedience. Repentance was needed then, and in these last days as well.
