Contributed by Donald Whitchard on Jan 25, 2021
     | 3,120 views

So many people today feel like they exist more than they live, thinking that everything in this world is against them and that no one cares. Matthew, the tax collector, is just such a case. It turned out that Jesus had a plan for him, and for you as well.

Jesus' compassion for people is evident as we progress through this Gospel. This display of Divine love is recorded by Matthew and Luke as well. The Lord Jesus is not the exclusive property of any group or man- made religious system. Nobody can mold Him into one particular behavior to suit ...read more

I believe with all my heart that we need a revival at the old-time religion.

What is a revival? A revival is a moving toward God by the people of God. Revival causes God's people to become active for the Lord once again. Revivals are produced by three things: preaching the word of God, hearing the word of God, and obeying the word of God. This hour certainly cries for ...read more

Chosen by Our Lord as what we at St. Peter’s Church called “Prince of the Apostles,” this guy had chronic, idiopathic foot-in-mouth disease.

Tuesday of Holy Week 2019 Peter the Apostle I think that early on when I heard this story, repeated in more than one Gospel, of Peter’s bravado and ultimate betrayal, I thought, “what a loser.” Chosen by Our Lord as what we at St. Peter’s Church called “Prince of the Apostles,” this guy had ...read more

  • Sermon With A Casket

I borrowed a casket and preached this message, "Dead or Alive?" Everyone received a poem entitled "The Old Man is Dead" telling things they need to remove/bury out of their lives. They filed by and put their list into the casket to "Nothing But the Blood!"

“DEAD OR ALIVE?” Rev. 3:1-3 INTRODUCTION A. HUMOR 1. There was a man who had a mental problem: he walked around all day believing he was dead. His family got tired and frustrated by his delusion because dead people don’t contribute anything to the living. 2. So his wife got him an ...read more

  • Are We Surrendered?

Contributed by Caleb Sowers on May 9, 2019
    based on 3 ratings

From 1908 to 2018, the Church of the Nazarene grew from 10,000 members to 2.5 million. They surrendered. They heard the call, the Great Commission given to every Christian, and they submitted. The Church Manual states that “The Church of the Nazarene recognizes all believers are called to minister to all people.” I love that statement. I love it because it really sums up how the Church of the Nazarene from its earliest days really felt the burden of the Great Commission and from the ...read more

Proverbs 10:12 says "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.

Proverbs 10:12 says "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. This proverb is an example of antithetical parallelism in Hebrew poetry. "Hatred" is contrasted with "love." The "stirring up" is contrasted with a "covering over." And ...read more
