Summary: Question: “Can a Christian Lose their salvation?” “Is a person once saved always saved?” “I understand that once I prayed a salvation prayer I now have a get out of Hell ticket for life no matter what I do.”

Illustration of rolling the dice.

We have many rolling the dice today when it comes to Biblical values, getting to Heaven and having a relationship with Jesus.

We say things like:

“Lord I am not going to church because they are filled with hypocrites, they hurt me and it’s boring --- but I believe I will still make Heaven and so will my kids because you understand!” And we roll the dice hoping it all works out in the end!

“Lord I am in love with that man’s wife, so I am going after for her - even though it is wrong but I believe you will forgive me” so I roll the dice on my life and my relationship with Jesus and I have an affair and some even call it God.

“Lord I know this sin is wrong, but I like it! So, I am not turning away from it, I know you will forgive me” so I roll the dice hoping I get forgiven but not really caring because sin is my desire not God.

“Lord I want a seven from you to meet this financial need, but I don’t give or serve in the Kingdom of Heaven – I use my money for what I want not what you want!” – so, I roll the dice still thinking I will get what I want.

“Lord I want my kids to know you, but I have to expose them to sex talks, lies of Creation and the Devils deceptions in our culture and in my public school” so I roll the dice that it will all work out for them in the end and the Devil does not get them.

“Lord I need a seven to save my children, but I don’t take them to church, get them involved in learning the Bible or help them learn the importance of a Biblical community” – so I roll the dice hoping it all works out doing it my way and hoping that my kids figure it out before the end.

“Lord I need a seven to save my marriage, but I still am selfish and loving it, in bondage and I am not listening to Godly counsel, I am not committing to Jesus or trusting and living for the Lord” – so I roll the dice wishing for the lucky seven that never comes for my marriage.

The problem is we don’t actually look into the Bible for the answers and the connection to God we need to have to make it through life and experience the blessed life. Instead we roll the dice hoping for lucky numbers that never come.

Scripture Text: Matthew 7:7- "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

• Acrostic teaching: A.S.K – ASK – SEEK – KNOCK! This is how we can get answers to the questions of life – to Biblical questions as well – it’s doing the big ASK.

On the lighter side of life:

Show funny signs stating messages and then end with the pictures of signs declaring Biblical messages.

Video Illustration: Bruce Almighty – God give me a sign! Have you been in Bruce’s shoes – Lord I want it my way – I could do a better job than you! So, I start rolling the dice on my eternal destiny, purpose and even on my kid’s salvation and future – why, I want to do it my way – so I roll the dice praying for a seven that never comes.

Primary Scripture Text to answer our question “Can I lose my salvation.”

Hebrews 6:1-6 (NIV)

1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,
