John 14:1-6

Intro.

Jesus was anticipating His own death and gave us Several promises.

1. A promised peace.

-Let not your hearts be troubled.

-Certainly the death of a loved one causes us to have a troubled heart.

-Because it is not normal

-Because of the hurt.

-Because of the empty place that is behind.

-Jesus us sufficient to meet all of these troubles.

-He promised us His peace.

--A peace that passes understanding.

--A peace that only He can give.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Psalms 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

-The peace that Jesus gives is a peace that comes from the inside.

-A peace that comes from an undying confidence that

God is in control and knows what He is doing.

II. A Promised place.

-It is a beautiful place.

-This place is not just a mansion. It is to be where

He is.

-The importance of a place in not in its location, it is in who else is there.

-Jesus said the He would be there

-It is a prepared place.

--Prepared in heaven.

--Prepared in advance.

--It is a reserved place.

We have an “inheritance…reserved in heaven”

III. There is a promised path. Vs. 6

-I am the way….

-There is no back door to heaven.

-There are not many paths….

-Jesus is the only way.

Conclusion:

Do you have God’s promised peace?

Do you have God’s promised place?

The only way is to come by the promised path…
