Summary: Not one iota of injustice will go unpunished. God will recompense according to deeds done. This message looks at mocking and Jeremiah’s life and the time when all the nations of earth gather against Israel to try to destroy it. The Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming.

THE BOOK OF LAMENTATIONS – PART 29 – WE LOOK AT MOCKING AND THEN MOVE TO RECOMPENSE AGAINST MOCKING AND SIN. ALL NATIONS GATHERED AGAINST ISRAEL- CHAPTER 3:63-64

Lamentations has been our focus as we see the heart-breaking conditions of the survivors of the Babylonian destruction. We also get to appreciate Jeremiah’s own suffering, persecutions and start to understand the sensitivity of this wonderful prophet of God. There are 4 verses remaining in Chapter 3.

PART [58]. LORD, TAKE NOTE OF WHAT THEY DO

{{Lamentations 3:63 “Look on their sitting and their rising. I am their mocking song.”}}

As we progress we have been looking at a parallel - what was true for Jeremiah was also true for the Lord. This world loves to mock and curse and it is mostly aimed against what is good and decent. We only have to look at mainstream media to see that. It is full of news reporters who try to pull down the good and promote the things that are evil; to denigrate what is decent to promote the perverse. For an example, the media will push its agenda of homosexuality while belittling a person who opposes that. I believe the modern media to be Satan’s mouthpiece. This will not get better for Satan is the prince and power of the air, and the AIRWAYS! It will get worse and quickly.

Christians are in this firing line. What sort of justice would God have if this evil was not faced with retribution? God is not a Santa Claus handing out goodies while overlooking the wrong. That is why the Tribulation will soon burst on this world. It is the justice of God and justice connects with holiness. Judah had to face God’s wrath. Israel had to as well. The world of Noah’s time had to face its evil. Sodom had to be judged for wickedness. Babylon was utterly judged for all its transgressions against Israel. So must this world for its multiplying sins!

I am going to raise an issue current in the world. There is a fast, increasing anti-Semitic flood coming into this world. It has really taken hold since the Hamas atrocities. The world is turning against Israel, a nation that is fighting for its survival against Islamic hatred and terrorism. All this is spearheaded by the Godless United Nations that passes resolution after resolution condemning Israel. It is sickening actually, as nothing is passed condemning Islamic terrorism. In these votes against Israel, only around 7 to 20 nations do not support the UN’s move. It shows where the world is heading. The USA usually votes in support of Israel and for that reason, God will bless the USA in line with Genesis 12:3.

Biden was an enemy of Israel as was Harris and especially Obama. The Australian Prime Minister, as is the UN, is hostile in his vengeance against Israel. He hates the nation of Israel, and Christians as well, along with his whole Party, the Australian Labor Party. Because of its hatred for Israel the ALP has imported 1.8 million Moslems to Australia in the last few years including a large number of Palestinians that no other nation in the world wants. These now riot on Australian streets calling for the death and gassing of the Jews and the police do nothing. This is how the world is going.

[[ I am doing a late edit on this early in August 2025 and things have been moving very quickly. The world as a whole is supporting Hamas propaganda and working with the United Nations in constant condemnation of Israel. Three of the worst nations are the United Kingdom, Australia and France. Even the Arabic nations are fairly silent on this for they know the evil of Palestinians. It is astounding that terrorist propaganda can be swallowed by the world’s nations, but that is what deception is.

The latest is a call to divide the nation of Israel to establish a Palestinian State (the so-called 2 State solution), but it won’t happen. Cursed are those who try to divide Israel – {{Joel 3:2 “I will gather ALL THE NATIONS, and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there on behalf of MY PEOPLE AND MY INHERITANCE, ISRAEL, whom they have scattered among the nations, AND THEY HAVE DIVIDED UP MY LAND.”

The world’s anti-Semitic hatred will continue to grow until at the end of the Tribulation the world’s armies (much reduced by that time) are drawn by the frog demons in Revelation 16 to the Battle of Armageddon. The United States under Trump is standing against all this evil of supporting Hamas and God will bless that nation because of it even though much corruption reigns in the USA. Genesis 12:3. We can see everything starting to take shape. ]]

Why is all this happening? Let us look at a Genesis verse that is set in stone and will always be true. {{Genesis 12:2 and I will make you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great, and so you shall be a blessing. Genesis 12:3 “I WILL BLESS THOSE WHO BLESS YOU AND THE ONE WHO CURSES YOU I WILL CURSE. In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed,”}}. Verse 3 has been proven by history and will be again, for all the nations of the world gather together to try to destroy Israel, but themselves will be destroyed. The LORD protects His earthly people even though today they are not seeking Him. Their time is coming once the times of the Gentiles has run its course. This is the record of those nations of the world (all of them) who seek Israel’s destruction. It happens at the end of the Tribulation on the eve of the Second Coming –

{{Zechariah 14:1-4 “Behold, a day is coming for the LORD when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. For I WILL GATHER ALL THE NATIONS AGAINST JERUSALEM TO BATTLE, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. Then THE LORD WILL GO FORTH AND FIGHT AGAINST THOSE NATIONS, as when He fights on a day of battle. And IN THAT DAY HIS FEET WILL STAND ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.”}}

{{Zechariah 12:2-4 “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah, and it will come about IN THAT DAY that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. ALL THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH WILL BE GATHERED AGAINST IT. “In that day,” declares the LORD, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment, and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.”}}

Those two passages come into operation at the Battle of Armageddon when the Lord returns at the Second Coming and His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives just as the angels said – {{Acts 1:11 and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”}}. Jesus left from Olivet and will return there in His coming in glory.

Those who curse Israel WILL BE CURSED. It has happened through history, but especially at this event at the end of the age when Jesus the Messiah returns. Right near the end of the Tribulation, in preparation for the Battle of Armageddon, the nations of the world are gathered with their armies by Satan to wipe Israel off the face of the earth – {{Revelation 16:13-14 “I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs, for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, WHICH GO OUT TO THE KINGS OF THE WHOLE WORLD, TO GATHER THEM TOGETHER FOR THE WAR OF THE GREAT DAY OF GOD, THE ALMIGHTY.”}}

God is consistent and His wrath must come on this grossly increasing, wicked world. If this world is bypassed in the coming Tribulation and spared God’s wrath, then the people of Sodom and Noah’s world and the idolaters of Judah could cry out against the justice of God. These people who write off the Tribulation (and Rapture that precedes it) please look at the consistency here. One physical principle God established is the law of action and reaction. Every action has its corresponding result. So it is that wickedness must meet its retribution. That is why the wrath of God is coming. It is The Tribulation, so don’t dismiss it as fairytale or some misplaced allegory just because Augustine wrongly concluded all that.

The evil people sang mocking songs against Jeremiah. Some of that is recorded in his prophecy, but it was constant. It happened before Judah’s overthrow but it continued after Judah’s defeat. I do not think that the prophet is recalling the time prior to the defeat by Babylon. The following verses relate to a similar mocking of the Lord Jesus:-

{{Matthew 20:19 “and will deliver Him to the Gentiles TO MOCK AND SCOURGE and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.”}}

{{Matthew 27:29 and after weaving a crown of thorns they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand, and they kneeled down before Him AND MOCKED HIM saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”}}

{{Matthew 27:41 “In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, WERE MOCKING HIM and saying,”}}

{{Luke 22:63 “The men who were holding Jesus in custody WERE MOCKING HIM, and beating Him,”}}

{{Luke 18:32-34 “for He will be delivered to the Gentiles, AND WILL BE MOCKED and mistreated and spit upon, and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him, and the third day He will rise again. They understood none of these things, and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.”}}

Their sitting down and rising just means in scripture in verse 63, their activity, their daily life. In other words all that they could find to do with their time was no better than to mock Jeremiah. Do you think the Lord was spared? He experienced the same mocking songs. {{Psalm 69:11-12 When I made sackcloth my clothing, I BECAME A BYWORD TO THEM. Those who sit in the gate talk about me and I AM THE SONG OF THE DRUNKARDS,”}}

Christian, if you count for the Lord and desire to be a good soldier for Him, you will be mocked and scorned. People will dismiss you as fanatics or idiots or misguided. More government laws will restrict your activity. All the prophets were mistreated. History bears testimony to millions of martyrs who sealed their faith with their blood. We are engaged in a war where good verses evil. There are two sides but we are on the winning side.

PART [59]. AS DAY FOLLOWS NIGHT JUSTICE WILL FOLLOW THE CRIME

{{Lamentations 3:64 “YOU WILL RECOMPENSE THEM, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.”}}

In this verse and the remaining two, it speaks about “them” the word being used 5 times. But who is the “them”?

Verse 64 takes up the recompense. Verse 65 is what their person will become. Verse 66 is what will happen to them.

There is a principle here of action and reaction. That law was set in effect in creation. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If I spill hot water on myself I will be scalded. If the brakes of my car fail when parked on a hill, and the gears are not engaged, it will crash into something. If a soul sins that one must surely die. {{Genesis 3:3 “but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, LEST YOU DIE.’”}}

We know that sin always pays and is paid. In fact it never misses one payment. {{Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”}} The world does not believe that there will be a day of reckoning for every man. It mocks the concept of judgement because it can not understand the principle of a holy God where an accounting for sin must happen.

Sin is like a disease that has to be contained then eliminated. The holiness of God is affronted by sin and sin has to be eradicated. The only reason why sin persists in the word is that it is held in check by the grace of God so that men might repent, but very soon the flood gates of judgement are opened and the holiness of God expends itself in wrath.

That is what we call recompense. The wages of sin are going to be paid, firstly in the great Tribulation that is coming, and secondly, by each man and woman at the great white throne of Revelation 20. God will recompense sin on this world, but let us return to verse 64 and the “them”.

Obviously the first answer for “them” are those from verse 63 who were the mockers and chanted mocking taunts against the prophet. Mockers think they are so clever as did a certain number of youths (these were not children – wrong translation) – {{2 Kings 2:23-24 “Then he went up from there to Bethel and as he was going up by the way, YOUNG LADS CAME OUT FROM THE CITY AND MOCKED HIM and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead. Go up, you baldhead!” When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.”}} Their recompense for mocking was swift. The world may mock the ones of God but God is not mocked.

Then the “them” will be understood in a wider sense and applied to all mockers of the Godhead and of Christians and their faith. Not one iota of injustice will go unpunished.

Here is David on the matter – {{Psalm 28:4-5 “REQUITE THEM ACCORDING TO THEIR WORK and according to the evil of their practices. Requite them according to the deeds of their hands. REPAY THEM THEIR RECOMPENSE. Because they do not regard the works of the LORD nor the deeds of His hands, He will tear them down and not build them up.”}}

We do not appreciate the extreme difficulties Jeremiah had in his life and the extent of wickedness against him, but it ought not be a surprise because the enemy is swift to attack an effective man of God. Jeremiah lived prior to the Christian era when it was a correct recompense “an eye for an eye” and according to the Law, justice was to be meted out to the lawbreaker. The prophet was correct in calling for recompense on his enemies.

Now in the New Covenant, that would not be correct for us. We are commanded to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. These following verses are correct for the dispensation of the Law and Jeremiah prayed correctly.

{{Jeremiah 18:22-23 “May an outcry be heard from their houses, when You suddenly bring raiders upon them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and hidden snares for my feet. Yet You, O LORD, know all their deadly designs against me. DO NOT FORGIVE THEIR INIQUITY OR BLOT OUT THEIR SIN FROM YOUR SIGHT. But may they be overthrown before You. Deal with them in the time of Your anger!”}}

{{Jeremiah 20:12 “Yet, O LORD of hosts, You who tests the righteous, who sees the mind and the heart, LET ME SEE YOUR VENGEANCE ON THEM, for to You I have set forth my cause.”}}

God judges impartially and His justice will be correct. Even in judgement, He will dispense correctly. The punishment will be commensurate with the offence. {{Jeremiah 25:14 “For many nations and great kings shall make slaves of them, even them; and I WILL RECOMPENSE THEM ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS, and according to the work of their hands.”}}

The principle is established. Deeds will merit compensation and none will miss the judgement of God - {{2 Corinthians 11:15 “Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness WHOSE END SHALL BE ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS.”}}

At the great judgement of the great white throne, the fairness of God is on display. It would be unjust of God to pronounce a universal judgement equal in all respects. Right through the scriptures the principle is clearly outlined of the punishment measuring the offence. Look at these great white throne verses – {{Revelation 20:12-13 and I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were JUDGED FROM THE THINGS WHICH WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS, ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS. The sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them and THEY WERE JUDGED, EVERY ONE OF THEM ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS.”}}

“ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS”. That is how it will be. It will not be a happy time for any sinner there, but for those who have been very wicked it will be a terrible time when cast into the lake of fire. I am not being mean with these facts. It is with heaviness we say these things but God first said them. If only the whole world would repent and be saved. If only there was no need for the great white throne!
