#15~Judas Iscariot- #3~ APOSTLES 3-15-14
Today we'll conclude our study of the apostles, we've been talking about Judas Iscariot for the past two broadcasts, and this will be the 3rd broadcast to do with Judas.
~Last time we read scripture telling us that Judas met with the religious rulers, the Sanhedrin, and betrayed the Lord for 30 pieces of silver; and when the right time had come he led the Roman detachment to the Garden of Gethsemane as he knew Jesus often resorted there with His disciples.
---------
>Luke 22:47-54 And while he yet spake, *(in Gethsemane) behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? 49When they which were about him (other apostles) saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. ~~ John 18:10 tells us it was Peter, and the high priest servants name was Malchus.
51And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. (Let events now take their course)
And he touched his ear, and healed him. -- (Luke the physician is the only one to record this healing)
52Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. "This is your hour and the power of darkness"-- is an acknowledgment that this is Satan at work. --- This "hour" is apparently the hour of triumph for the enemies of Jesus, but there is a future "hour" that will be His hour of triumph.
54Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house.
>Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
~ Jesus didn't try to get out of His situation; this was why He was born, to die for sinners.
>John 12: 27Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
---------------
* Then after the kangaroo court in the palace of the high priest Caiaphas we read;
>Matt.27:1- 5 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
2And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
(repented himself) This word (repented) is a different Greek word than (repentance unto salvation) -- these are two different Greek words, two different meanings. --- His remorse was not the same as repentance of sin unto salvation. He was sorry, not because he had sinned against Christ. -- But because his sin did not satisfy him the way he had hoped.
-----
4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
~ His admission "I have sinned" is not a confession to faith.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Now I want to talk about Judas's "own place." -- What I'm about to read is after Judas had committed suicide, the disciples were going to choose a replacement for Judas.
>Acts 1:15 -- 25 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
16Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
-------
18Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
~ Let me say, that while putting these studies of the apostle's together I have read from many sources, some I used and some I didn't, and here is what I found to do with "Judas's bowels gushing out".
--------
~ Apparently he chose a tree on an overhang above some jagged rocks. Either what he used to hang himself with or the tree branch broke, and Judas fell head-long onto the rocks, ripping his stomach area open.
---------
~Peter continues speaking to the disciples;
19And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, "The field of blood." 20For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation (where he lived) be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: -- a reference to- (PS.69:25) --- and his bishoprick let another take. -- (Office of apostleship) -- A reference to (ps.109:8)
21Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, --
22Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, -- ~Acts 1: 9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
~ 22Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
~Notice to be one of the 12, one would have to have seen the resurrected Christ.
23And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
--------
~ I want us to be sure that we recognize what Judas fell from; he did not fall from grace, Judas was never saved, he fell from the "ministry and office of apostleship."
------------
What does Peter mean in Acts 1: 25 -- "that he (Judas) might go to his own place."?
--
Listen, in John 17: is the Lords prayer, it's all in red writing, that means Christ does all the talking, -- some times we heard people refer to Luke 11: as the Lords prayer, but it's not, in Luke 11: the Lord is giving His disciples an example of how they were to pray. -- Even in some bibles we'll find at the top of the page, "the Lords Prayer" --- always remember, the sub- topics we often find in our bibles are not inspired, men place them there, so their often mistaken.
-------
>John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, (His disciples) I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, listen -but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
~Let's be sure to see here, that Jesus called JUDAS ISCARIOT "the son of perdition."
~Paul called the antichrist "the son of perdition"
>2nd. Thess. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; --- 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
~At the midway point of the 7 year tribulation the antichrist will enter the temple where the Jews will worship at that time and declare him-self to be God.
~ No one else in all the bible is called "the son of perdition"-- only Judas Iscariot and the antichrist.
It doesn't say "A" son of perdition, it say's "THE" son of perdition. * "Destruction"
~Listen; if Judas and the Antichrist are both called "THE SON OF PERDITION" then they are the one and the same.
~ We're told in Matt.27: 5 that Judas - went and hanged himself.
~ We're told in Acts 1:25 -- that he might go to his own place.
"HELL" is not his own personal place, there are countless millions of lost souls in hell, --- but he has his special place in the Abyss, "the bottomless pit." He is there now waiting until God is ready to use him again.
------------
~In Rev.11:3-7 we read about Moses and Elijah back on earth preaching and crying out warnings during the 1st half of the tribulation. Listen.
>Rev.11: 3-7 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, {3 ½ years} clothed in sackcloth.
4These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit ** shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. -- When God has finished with Moses and Elijah, He will allow the antichrist to kill them.
~ LISTEN, How did the beast, the antichrist, get into the "ABYSS" bottomless pit, to start with?
~Listen, since there is only one "SON OF PERDITION," and Judas and the Antichrist are one and the same, then he went to the ABYSS when Judas went to his "Own Place" (the ABYSS). Acts 1:25.
~ Of no other person is it said anywhere in the Scriptures that he went "to his own place."
--------
>Rev.17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit,
" The beast that thou sawest was" --at an earlier time Judas "was"-- when John wrote this down "he was not"--but at the appointed time "shall ascend out of the bottomless pit"
------
~Jesus said In John 6:70-71 Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? --- 71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
---------
~Listen, the true church is taken out of the world in Rev. 4: -- chapters 4:& 5: is a scene in heaven, Rev. 6: the antichrist is on earth.
~In other words, when the church is raptured away the antichrist will come from
"HIS OWN PLACE" and gradually begin his peaceful deception.
----
~The Antichrist will appear quietly, he will be a man that will be quickly recognized as a brilliant man, he will appear to be a man of peace, and he will have the remedy for all the worlds' chaotic problems.
------
~ The world today would welcome a leader like this, all over the world, nations have financial problems as well as many others, our nation today is in the worst mess it's ever been in, the leaders of our country don't seem to know how to work together, their seemingly are at odds among themselves, we're the biggest debtor nation on earth and are getting more-so ever day. -- A man like this antichrist would be welcomed with open arms.
> Rev.13: -- and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
------
~This is the man who will put the Roman Empire back together again, and he will finally become world dictator. ~ The revived Roman Empire.
~God has a great plan, and it's right on schedule, it's not earlier and it's not late, it's right on time, I hope that your saved and ready to go, the rapture of His True Church is the next thing to happen.
