By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)

Introduction about fruit:

WE ARE STUDYING THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT FROM GALATIANS 5. LET US LOOK AT THE 4th FRUIT WITH 5 TO FOLLOW. THE FOURTH FRUIT IS LONGSUFFERING OR PATIENCE…

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

FOR THE RECORD THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS SINGULAR NOT PLURAL. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS ONE, NOT MANY.

*LONGSUFFERING: forebear, endure, to bear continual trouble and being wronged.

*PATIENCE: to remain calm, ability to wait something out, to endure, tolerate delay, trouble and suffering without getting angry or upset. To bearing pain and trials calmly without complaint, not hasty or in a hurry, calm, self-control.

ON WHAT LEVEL OF FRUIT BEARING DO YOU ABIDE? JOHN 15 RECORDS THERE ARE SEVERAL LEVELS OF BEARING FRUIT: 1. NO FRUIT; 2. FRUIT; 3. MORE FRUIT; 4. MUCH FRUIT. Any increase in production of real fruit comes from God.

.*FRUIT: anything that contains seeds for reproduction, come from the flowering part of the plant, the sweet, fleshy produce of plants that contain a seed,

*VEGETABLE: edible part of a plant leaves, stems, rots, bulbs.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Let us look at the 4TH fruit of 9: longsuffering/patience. .

THE BIBLE IS FULL OF LESSONS OF BIBLICAL HEROS THAT DEALT WITH LONGSUFFERING/PATIENTCE. THESE CHARACTERS IN THE BIBLE were persevered through sufferings and struggles: Joseph, Job, David, Jeremiah, Hannah, Ruth, the woman that suffered 12 years, Paul.

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS NEEDED IN OUR DAILY JOURNEY. TO OPERATE PROPERLY IN THE SPIRIT WE ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THE 9 FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. THE 4TH FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT LONGSUFFERING, PATIENCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.

Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Hebrews 10:36 (MSG) But you need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion.

THERE IS A FALSE TEACHING ABOUT PATIENCE. SOME SAY NEVER ASK FOR PATIENCE AS PATIENCE IS ASSOCIATED WITH TROUBLE/TRIBULATION. IN MANY PLACES PATIENCE IS A DIRTY WORD. THERE IS BAD NEWS ABOUT PATIENCE…

Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

This false teaching is dangerous as it will tend to cause people to avoid patience. Let me clearly state a fact. Longsuffering/ patience is a fruit that must grow. If you live and grow this 4th fruit must be evident in you daily journey.

PATIENCE AND LONGSUFFERING IS A REQUIREMENT IN POSSESSING YOUR SOUL.

Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

Luke 21:19 (MSG) Staying with it—that's what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won't be sorry; you'll be saved.

Luke 21:19 (LV) For if you stand firm , you will win souls.

THERE ARE KINDERGARTEN, ELEMENTARY, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE DEGREES… BUT GOD’S HIGHEST SCHOOL IS FOUND IN THE BACK SIDE OF THE DESERT --- THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SUFFERING WITH PATIENCE.

Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

ANY SERIOUS FARMER KNOWS YOU PLOW THE GROUND, YOU SOW THE SEED, THE RAINS COME… WITH PATIENCE YOU WAIT FOR THE HARVEST.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

THE FOURTH OF THE NINE FRUIT IS A GOOD THING, WE MUST LEARN TO THRIVE DURING SEASON OF LONGSUFFERING.

Lamentations 3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

2 Corinthians 6:4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

2 Corinthians 6:4 (MSG) Our work as God's servants gets validated—or not—in the details. People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times;

CONCLUSION: THERE ARE 9 SPIRITUAL FRUIT. WE NEED TO FOCUS ON ALL 9 AND SOW GOOD SEEDS FOR A GOOD HARVEST. WE NEED TO EXERCISE THE 4TH FRUIT WITH GREAT CARE. GROW IN GRACE AND BE LONGSUFFERING AND PATIENT, MY FRIEND.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
