No Grave: Finding Jesus
Contributed by Edward Hardee on Apr 21, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: The women at the tomb went out on a search to "find Jesus". We look into their lives discovering what Jesus meant to them. Also the angels answer to them.
Revelation – Jesus Alive Forevermore
12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining it its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hell and of Death.
--Revelation 1:12-18 (NKJV)
Jesus is the one who – lives. Yes He is a real person, who can take away your sins. I read of others who believe they can do it on their own, but Jesus is the only one who can do what is necessary.
Jesus is the one who was dead – the crucifixion happened. He paid the price on the cross for our sins. This is more than glossing over, but Christ is the substitute.
Jesus is alive forever more.
John 14:1-4 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. (2) In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (4) And where I go you know, and the way you know."
Finally, Jesus holds the “keys of Hell and of Death”. You don’t have to be overcome by what hell is trying to bring against you.
Conclusion
7 But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you."
To me this is the most telling part of the story. The angel tells the ladies to go back and share what they have heard and seen with the disciples. He purposely calls out Peter
Peter –
The denier
The one who talked so much but let Christ down
The one who could not control it himself.
Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."
Powerful words. Jesus prayed for Peter. He is praying for us.
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1 John 1:8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Simple Plan of Salvation
We are Loved by God
We let God Down
Jesus Died for Us
We must accept Him by Faith and Confession
