THE FROZEN HEART

The Chronicles of Christmas – Part 1

A MAN NAMED JACK

Tell the story of his life and conversion. Create a power point of pictures and scenes that can be used to tell the story. Hal Seed has an excellent synopsis of his life in his sermon Encounter the Power on Sermon Central.

A WOMAN NAMED JADIS

Show images of the White Witch here.

Her name is Jadis. She was made from a Jinn (an evil spirit) and a Giant. She destroyed her previous world Charn and lay in deep sleep until the young professor Kirke woke her up with a magical bell in the Magician’s Nephew. From the very moment of Narnia’s creation by Aslan the Lion she entered that realm and went into hiding for close to a thousand years. A hundred years before the four Pevensie children enter Narnia she descends from the cold regions of the North to blight the land of Narnia with a hundred year winter. For over 100 years she has held sway over all the land of Narnia. Her realm of power is as cold as her heart. This is our introduction to the Cold Queen of Narnia.

In the middle of the sledge, sat a very different person – a great lady, taller than any woman that Edmund had ever seen. She also was covered in white fur up to her throat and held a long straight golden wand in her right hand and wore a golden crown on her head. Her face was white – not merely pale,…except for her very read mouth. It was a beautiful face in other respects, but proud and cold and stern. LWW page 123

“Before the new, clean world I gave you is seven hours old, a force of evil has already entered it; waked and brought hither by this son of Adam” Aslan referring to young Digory bringing Jadis into the newly created world of Narnia. MN page 80

“…in order to rescue and deliver us from this present wicked age and world order” Galatians 1:4 AMP

We know …. that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 1 John 5:19 NIV

SHE HAS THE DISPOSITION OF THE DEVIL

1. SHE IS A REBEL – SHE WILL SUBMIT TO NO RULE OR LAW

“You must learn, child, that what would be wrong for you or for any of the common people is not wrong in a great Queen such as I.” Then she moves to the Royal We by saying, “We must be freed from all rules. Ours is a high and lonely destiny.” Jadis to young Digory. MN page 42

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan” 2 Thessalonians 2:9 NIV

2. SHE IS A DECEIVER – AN EVIL ENCHANTRESS

“I will put my mantle around you and we will talk” Jadis to Edmund LWW page 124

“[The Devil] when he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44 NLT

“Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them….” 2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT

3. SHE IS A COUNTERFEIT QUEEN – SHE GAINED HER THRONE BY TREACHERY

“It is she who has got all Narnia under her thumb. It’s she who makes it always winter” Mr Tumnus, the fawn, to Lucy in LWW page 118

“The White Witch?” said Edmund; “ who’s she?” “She is a perfectly terrible person,” said Lucy. “She calls herself the Queen of Narnia though she has no right to be queen at all “ LWW page 128

“She isn’t a real queen at all, she’s a horrible witch, the White Witch. … She has made an enchantment over the whole country so that it is always winter here and never Christmas.” Lucy to Peter when enquiring about the Queen Jadis. LWW page 136.

“… the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 NIV

“Then the devil took Him up to a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time 6 And he said to Him, Satan to Jesus “To You I will give all this power and authority and their glory ….., for it has been turned over to me, and I give it to whomever I will.” Luke 4:5-6 AMP

4. SHE IS A USER – THOSE IN HER GRASP MEAN NOTHING TO HER UNLESS THEY CAN PROMOTE HER OWN ADVANCEMENT AND POWER.

“I expect most witches are like that. They are not interested in things or people unless they can use them; they are terribly practical.” Magician’s Nephew, page 47
