Summary: It’s time that we become relevant with the 21st century; therefore, we have to let go of the past!

Moving On Text: Isaiah 43:18-19

18). Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19). Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

I. The creator (God) Israel’s friend speaks out against His enemies and say’s, “ I will destroy Babylon, and bring to nothing the noble.” (The noble are those who place their confidence in anything outside the realm of the maker!) God is saying, “ I desire for you to have a eternal case of memory lapse; however, tighten your seatbelts because I am going to do a new thing!”

A. Isaiah 43: 21 This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise. [God has poured His grace and mercy on every situation, but in return He expects for us to become living examples of His praise]!

B. Testimony: Several years ago when Nathan was young, we needed some milk. I went into a name-brand store and got a gallon of milk. I was next in line. I was just under my breath humming a song. The teller said, “ You sure are happy?” I said back to her, “ Well, I have the joy of the Lord!” She stopped looked at me and said, “ I won’t that.” I ask permission from the stores night manager to pray with her. He said, “ sure.” We prayed outside in the parking lot. As we were praying for her salvation many more believers seemed to come from everywhere and prayed with us. That lady gave her heart unto Jesus that night!

C. God has called us to make a declaration of our praise unto Him for all to see! ( Our light should shine bright!)

D. Vs. 19 say’s, “I will do a new thing!” Think about this, when Eve awoke on planet earth she was already a wife! Imagine waking up beside a man when you had never seen one before! She found herself in the ultimate sink-or-swim situation. She missed her childhood; she step right into being a wife and then a mother.

E. Did that happen to you? If something seems to be missing this word is for you! “Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing.”

F. God’s ready! Are you? Phil. 3:13-14 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

G. Refuse to blame your past for your present, or let it ruin your future. You can’t go back into your childhood, that marriage, or a past failure. 1. Accept it! 2. Dismiss what used to be. 3. Move on!

H. Isaiah 43: 19, 1-2 .19) Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. 1-2 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel:“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

I. Say, “I am His!” Often we hold on to the past because there’s something we think we still need there. We cling to things because we fear we’ll never be able to replace them!

J. But God has more! It you will trust Him for your future. There is more ahead of you than behind you! So get up, get over it, and move on!
