# 16~ MOSES-pt. 3 SS DEUT.32:48-52 9-21-14

@@@ Num.20: @@@ Exo.17: @@@ Deut. 31: @@@ Deut. 34:

@This is the 16th week that we have been looking into the faith of the people that are named here in Hebrews 11: - called by many the "hall of the faithful" chapter, I'm sure that there's much more that could be said to do with the great truths of the faith of theses dear people.

@ ~Today we'll talk some more about Moses, about the people grumbling and complaining to him, and finally about his death, and see why he was not allowed to enter into the promise land with his people, and we'll see that God Chose Joshua to be the new leader of His people.

@~Joshua will be leading God's people when they march around the walls of Jericho, and how that by following Gods directions, the walls fall down.

@------

@~ As we're about to read, Moses was not perfect, just as any man he had his flaws and his times of weakness, and the Bible faithfully records many of these shortcomings.

Listen as I read DEUT.32:48-52.

@Deut.32: 48 - 52 And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying, 49Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:

@50And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:

@ 51Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified ME not in the midst of the children of Israel.

@ 52Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.

----------

Just what was the trespass that Moses had done?

~Moses was told to speak to a rock to get water from it, but instead he struck the rock twice with a rod, he was angry at the constant murmuring and complaining of the people.

~ The ROCK was a type of Christ; Christ was to be crucified once and for all, not twice.

>Heb.10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

>1st Cor.10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

------

@@@ Num. 20:1-13 Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin (a part of the Desert) in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

~Here we have the death of Miriam -- no days of mourning -- Miriam died and was buried. -- Because of her and Aarons complaining against Moses, neither was allowed to enter the Promised Land.

Numbers 12: 1-2 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

--------

~Here they are back at Kadesh, they had been here almost 40 years earlier and now theyfre back again, 40 years of wandering, going nowhere. --- This was a new generation, most of the others had died off, yet they were as bad as those that went before them murmuring and complaining.

Nearly forty years earlier, and in another place, God brought water from a rock. But on the first occasion Moses was instructed to strike the rock.

@@@ Exodus 17: 1- 7 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

@2Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

@ 3And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

@4And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

@ 5And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, (turned the water of the Nile to blood) take in thine hand, and go.
