5TH FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: KINDNESS, GENTLENESS 7/4/24

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)

The way I treat _______?___________ is the real way I treat Jesus Christ!

FOR THE RECORD THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS SINGULAR NOT PLURAL. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS ONE, NOT MANY.

THE FIRST RECORD OF FRUIT IN THE BIBLE IS FOUND IN GENSIS 1. WE FIND FRUIT IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS TO REPRESENT CHOICES… THERE IS A DIVINE IMPERATIVE GIVEN BY GOD TO BE FOLLOWED MY MAN --- BE FRUITFUL.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

JOHN 15 RECORDS THERE ARE SEVERAL LEVELS OF BEARING FRUIT: 1. NO FRUIT; 2. FRUIT; 3. MORE FRUIT; 4. MUCH FRUIT. Any increase in production of real fruit comes from God.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

*FRUIT: anything that contains seeds for reproduction, come from the flowering part of the plant, the sweet, fleshy produce of plants that contain a seed,

*VEGETABLE: elible part of a plant leaves, stems, rots, bulbs.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Let us look at the 5th fruit of 9: GENTLENESS-KINDNESS.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF TREES: 1. FIREWOOD TREES; 2. FRUIT TREES. WE MAY NOT JUDGE BY THE EXTERNALS ALONE, BUT WE WILL BE KNOWN BY THE FRUIT THAT WE BEAR.

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

THE 5TH FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS GENTLENESS OR KINDNESS.

*GENTLENESS: mild, soft, soothing, not harsh, not stern, easily handled,

*KINDNESS: not selfish, GENEROUS, CONSIDERATE, FRIENDLY, to care, to be helpful, inclined to do good, to bring joy and happiness to others, .

KINDNESS AND GENTLENESS START IN THE MOUTH… Where does kindness start?

Proverbs 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

KINDNESS AND GENTLENESS MUST BE DEMONSTRATED STARTING IN THE HOME… BROTHERLY KINDNESS…

Kindness must be reflected in our personal relationships.

Zechariah 7:9 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

WE MUST LOOK FOR THE OPPORTUNITIES AROUND US TO BE GENTLE AND KIND TO OTHERS.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

THE TEST OF KINDNESS AND GENTLENESS OFTEN COMES AT THE TABLE. WHO IS IT? IS IT ME? HOW DO I HANDLE WHEN JUDAS IS SITTING AT MY TABLE? WILL WE TAKE THE TOWEL AND WASH JUDAS’ FEET?

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY AND SPIRITUAL DUTY TO SHOW KINDNESS AND GENTLENESS TO EVERYONE IN OUR DAILY WALK.

Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
