I CAN’T CARRY A THOUSAND POUNDS…

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol..com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)

Hear me: COULD YOU MAKE THIS WEEKEND THE BEST ONE OF THIS YEAR? Today is a good day to have a good day! What could you do to make today a good day? WHAT COULD YOU DO TO MAKE TODAY A PRECIOUS MEMORY? Will you make today a good day? Or will today just be an average day?

IN MY SICKNESS THIS SUMMER, I HAVE LIVED ON TOMATOES. THEY TASTE SO GOOD TO ME. LAST NIGHT WE WERE DOWN TO OUR LAST TWO. I got up and washed them. Put them in a plate, cut them up and salted them. As I went to pick up the plate, I dropped all of them in the floor. What a mess. I can’t bend down to clean them up. My heart was broken. Wow, it broke my heart to watch my wife clean up the mess. Could we still make this a good day?

A PERSON IS NOT DEFEATED WHEN HE LOOSES. A PERSON IS FINISHED WHEN HE QUITS!

There are several words I can’t stand to hear: I DON’T CARE! This speaks of no interest or emotional investment or apathy. There are some other words I hate to hear: I CAN’T! Did you know I CAN’T CARRY A THOUSAND POUNDS?? Is this true? NO! I can carry a thousand pounds in small packages. I can carry 1,000 pounds, one pound at a time.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:13 (MSG) Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.

*GPS= GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM”

GPS: To make today a good day we need to learn and teach. We need the GPS, GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TO LEARN: WE MUST LEARN AND PRESENT OUR-SELF AS A GOOD WORKER.. WE MUST DISCIPLINE THE FLESH TO STUDY AND READ THE WORD OF GOD. LEARN.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 (MSG) Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won't be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple.

A GOOD LEARNER MUST BECOME A GOOD TEACHER. To teach is to learn twice. God’s word is useful to learn, to teach, to train and to guide us.

THE WORD OF GOD HAS POWER TO CHANGE AND TRANSFORM OUR WORDS, DEEDS AND ATTITUDES.

Deuteronomy 6:5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. 8 Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; 9 inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.

THE GPS FOR MAKING TODAY A GOOD DAY IS LEANING…

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5(MSG) Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own.

6 Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.

There is an old song that says: WHAT HAVE I TO DREAD, WHAT HAVE I TO FEAR, I AM LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS OF GOD. Seems ADAM and EVE LEANED ON THE FLESH.

PETER TOOK HIS EYES OFF JESUS AND HE SAW THE WAVES AND FELT THE CONTRARY WINDS PETER HAD TO AGAIN LEAN ON THE LORD. PETER HAD TO LEAN ON JESUS’ CONTROL NOT HIS OWN.

TODAY CAN BE A GOOD DAY IF WE WOULD LEAN AND TRUST GOD’S CONTROL. My friend to make today a good day we have to accept Jesus bought us with a price. WE are not our own.

THE GPS TO HAVE A GOOD DAY IS THE LOST ART OF LISTENING.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

LET US PONDER: Years ago I made a visit to a church member in a Nashville, Tennessee Hospital. The old man was seriously ill. He was looking out the window. He said his wife lived in one end of the house, he in the other. He said if I had the money, I would hire someone to listen to me. If I could, I would have someone just to sit with me and listen. I have seen those lines ten thousand times. Teens cry: will anyone listen to me? Elderly people sit by their land lines, will anyone call? Loneliness, depression and fear give birth, will anyone listen? The purpose of the family is to learn, lean, listen and love. The TV, cell phones, the computer become a substitute teacher and many fail to learn the rare gift of listening. How sad few learn to listen. One of the blistering causes of broken homes are spouses refusing to listen. Big mouths reign. There is a lost art today, families jailed in their own rooms, togetherness and unity are so rare. Will you learn to listen? Please pass this on to others. No sleep? l pray and then identify a need and write. 2 ears and one mouth might be a hint? Teach me Lord to listen!
