How Deeply Will You Repent? Series
Contributed by Tom Fuller on Nov 28, 2017 (message contributor)
Summary: Joseph tests his brothers - but he is not being capricious or vindictive - rather he is testing whether they are the same characters who tried to kill him. We learn important lessons about the kind of repentence we have.
1 John 1:8-9 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
How often to do we doubt that God’s grace can REALLY forgive us?
Do we look over our shoulders for God’s army to come after us? We need to rest in His love and forgiveness.
Psalms 103:8-12 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Jacob thought everything was against him when in reality everything was for him.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let God search you – let him search deeply – let Him cleanse – then purify – then give you assurance of forgiveness and that He’s got your life and your future in His capable hands.
