Summary: Praise is a very important aspect of serving God. The tribe of Judah was known as those that praised. Will the stones replace us in praise? Hope not!

HOSANNA! WILL THE STONES HAVE TO CRY OUT?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

*DEFINE PRAISE: warm approval, admiration, expression of acceptance and approval, to be favorable, to glorify, worship, bless, exalt, magnify, reassurance, happiness,

PRAISE IS OFFERED VERBALLY, MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY AND BODY LANGUAGE!

LISTEN? LISTEN? WHAT DO YOU HEAR? WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Matthew 21:6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7 And brought the DONKEY, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. 8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

THE CROWDS ARE CELEBRATING AND THE PEOPLE ARE JUBILANT!

Do we realize a DONKEY HAS A CROSS ON IT’S BACK? J ESUS TRAVELS HIS SEVENTH ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM. JESUS BORROWS A DONKEY. WE ALL KNOW KINGS RIDE A BIG WHITE HORSE… NEXT TIME JESUS APPROACHES THE EASTERN GATE HE WILL BE ON A WHITE HORSE… BUT THIS SEVENTH ENTRY JESUS RIDES INTO TOWN ON A LOWLY DONKEY COLT… THIS TIME JESUS COMES AS A LOWLY PRINCE OF PEACE… NEXT TIME, THE EIGHT ENTRY THERE WILL BE NO LOWLY DONKEY ENTRY --- THE NEXT TIME IT WILL BE THE KING OF KINGS, THE LORD OF LORDS, THE CONQUEROR OF THE AGES.

WHO IS THIS? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? WHAT DOES HOSANNA MEAN?

Matthew 21:9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

The crowd is yelling? Is this a soccer game? Is this a football game? How about a baseball game? No it is OK to cheer on our team? This NOISE HOSANNA IS NOT ACCEPTABLE…

** HOSANNA--- RESCUE, SAVIOR, WORSHIP, PRAYER, PRAISE, JOY, ADORATION, PASSION. Hosanna can mean: PLEASE LORD, HELP US! LORD PLEASE SAVE US! Hosanna is a cry for divine help and a cry for praise. Hosanna is a plea for divine help. Hosanna means THANKFULNESS… GRATEFUL… PRAISE GOD…

JUDAH: JUDAH WAS CALLED BY GOD TO ALWAYS BE GOD’S FIRST… JUDAH WAS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL OF ALL THE TRIBES… JUDAH GOES FIRST BECAUSE PRAISE MUST ALWAYS LEAD THE WAY INTO THE REALM OF NEW THINGS.

Jacob had a son named JUDAH. Judah’s descendants became one of the 12 tribes. Judah settled in the choice lands of southern Israel. The tribe of Judah produced such great kings as David and Solomon.

We need to know that THE MESSIAH WOULD COME OUT OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH. Judah literally means THANKSGIVING and PRAISE.

*BETHEL MEANS “THE HOUSE OF EL” ---THE HOUSE OF GOD, THE SANCTUARY.

Judges 20:18 And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.

While Judah means praise and power… The tribe of Judah preceded the other 11 tribes when Israel moved to a new location.

WE CAN’T! THE NATION OF ISRAEL WAS IN DEEP TROUBLE, THE KING JEHOSHAPHAT WAS UTTERLY HOPELESS. THE ENEMY WAS LIKE THE TITANIC: UNSINKABLE?

2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.

JUDAH STANDS IN PRAISE BEFORE ISRAEL AND GOD…

2 Chronicles 20:13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

I CAN’T, YOU CAN’T, WE CAN’T BUT GOD… BUT GOD CAN.

2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

BUT GOD CAN, WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE STAND FIRM IN PRAISE… NO FEAR, NO WORRY, BUT GOD…

2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

LET US MAKE AN APPOINTMENT… AN APPOINTMENT OF PRAISE… YOU CAN NOT PRAISE WHERE PEOPLE ARE MURMURING, COMPLAINING, GRIPING AND FAULT FINDING! PRAISE BRINGS THE POSSIBILITIES, PROBABILITIES OF VICTORY.

2 Chronicles 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
