God of Wonders

Thesis: Does God – Jesus – The Holy Spirit still amaze and awe you? Do you understand Jesus is a God of Wonders? Does God make you scratch your head and ask, “How did He do that?” Does this awe you inspire you to live for Him?

In the book “Unleash the power of storytelling” by Rob Biesenbach

He notes this about a great story:

• It will win hearts – captivate, inspire and motivate people!

• It will change minds – convince people to come around to the authors or teller’s way of thinking.

• It will get results – great stories persuade people to act in a way that transforms them and others.

Introduction:

Spiritual thought from Psalm 77:14 “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” – the main idea in this Psalm is “ God’s power and presence remain active today, inviting us to trust Him in hardship, in trials, in the unknown and pray boldly, and even expect miracles in those ordinary moments of life.

Quote: “God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil everywhere.” E.M. Bounds

Power Point Picture: From Nasa!

• A stunning composite image in 2009 captures the hand-shaped nebula MSH 15-52 along with the remains of the supernova that formed it.

• Astronomers combined X-ray data from NASA’s Chandra Observatory with radio observations from the Australia Telescope Compact Array, uncovering fresh details and hidden structures.

• At the center lies a pulsar, an ultra-dense neutron star spinning rapidly, which fuels the creation of the nebula.

• This extraordinary system began when a massive star used up its nuclear fuel, collapsed inward, and then exploded in a brilliant supernova. – Creating – what scientist are calling” A Cosmic Hand “of God” In Space” – It became called this in 2009, NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory unveiled a striking image of a pulsar surrounded by a nebula shaped like a giant hand.

T.S. - We have been exploring the Creative hand of our Creator in Nature – in Biology and in Space – today I want to connect the Creator God of Genesis to Jesus – to inspire you to be more in awe of God and His love.

Scriptures:

John 1:1-18 (CEV) --- The Word of Life

1 In the beginning was the one who is called the Word. The Word was with God and was truly God.

2 From the very beginning the Word was with God.

3 And with this Word, God created all things. Nothing was made without the Word. Everything that was created

4 received its life from him, and his life gave light to everyone.

5 The light keeps shining in the dark, and darkness has never put it out.

6 God sent a man named John,

7 who came to tell about the light and to lead all people to have faith.

8 John wasn’t that light. He came only to tell about the light.

9 The true light that shines on everyone was coming into the world.

10 The Word was in the world, but no one knew him, though God had made the world with his Word.

11 He came into his own world, but his own nation did not welcome him.

12 Yet some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children of God.

13 They were not God’s children by nature or because of any human desires. God himself was the one who made them his children.

14 The Word became a human being and lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us.

15 John spoke about him and shouted, “This is the one I told you would come! He is greater than I am, because he was alive before I was born.”

16 Because of all that the Son is, we have been given one blessing after another.

17 The Law was given by Moses, but Jesus Christ brought us undeserved kindness and truth.

18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like.

The Gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament and is attributed to John the Apostle, "the disciple whom Jesus loved". It is uniquely characterized by its profound theological focus on the divinity of Jesus, whom it introduces as the eternal Logos (Word) who became flesh. But note – He was with God at Creation and is a part of Creation!
