Go! And Be Saved to the Uttermost - Hebrews 7:25
Introduction
Today, we continue our "Go! And..." series with a vital message titled "Go! And Be Saved to the Uttermost." Our key verse is Hebrews 7:25 from the New Living Translation:
Hebrews 7:25 (NLT): "Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf."
This is a powerful promise of salvation, security, and the ceaseless intercession of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Saviour.
The Book of Hebrews was written to Jewish believers who were tempted to abandon Christianity under persecution. The author stresses the superiority of Jesus—greater than Moses, greater than the high priests, greater than the old covenant.
Hebrews 7 focuses on Jesus as our perfect High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. Unlike human priests who die and need successors, Jesus lives forever and His priesthood is eternal.
The Greek word for "save" here is sozo (s???), meaning "to rescue, heal, or preserve." The phrase "save completely" (s??e?? e?? t? pa?te???) speaks of a salvation that is full, total, and unending.
1. Jesus Saves Completely
John 10:28 (NLT): "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me."
Shepherds in Jesus’ day were responsible for protecting their sheep from robbers and wild animals. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, guarantees our eternal security.
Imagine falling into the ocean, unable to swim. A lifeguard dives in, lifts you up, and carries you to safety. You don't rescue yourself; you are completely saved by another.
John Piper said, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." When we trust Jesus to save us fully, we glorify Him fully.
When we place our full trust, our full satisfaction, not in our own efforts, not in our own goodness, but in Christ alone — He is glorified! When we trust Jesus to save us fully, we glorify Him fully. Every time we rest in the finished work of Christ — His life, His death, His resurrection — we are declaring to the world: “Jesus is enough!”
Friends, the greatest act of worship is not just singing songs; it is a life that says, "Jesus, I trust You completely!" The more satisfied we are in Him, the more our lives shine with the glory of His grace and truth.
Stop trying to add to what Christ has completed. Trust that He has secured your salvation fully.
2. Jesus Intercedes for Us
Romans 8:34 (NLT): "Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honour at God’s right hand, pleading for us."
The role of a priest was to intercede—to stand between God and man. Jesus continues this role in heaven.
"Intercede" (??ta?t?????eta?) means "to entreat on behalf of another."
Think of a lawyer passionately defending a client. Jesus stands before the Father, not as one begging for mercy, but as the victorious Son ensuring justice based on His finished work.
Charles Stanley said, "Jesus is standing before the throne, and He calls your name. He reminds the Father of His blood that paid for you."
This is not some poetic ideal — this is the living reality of Christ’s ongoing ministry for you and for me. Jesus, our great High Priest, stands at the right hand of the Father, and every time the accuser tries to bring a charge against us, Jesus points to His sacrifice, His blood, His finished work on the cross.
When Stanley says "He calls your name," it highlights how personal our Saviour is. He knows you. He loves you. He intercedes specifically for you. His blood speaks a better word — a word of forgiveness, of grace, and of eternal acceptance into the family of God.
Let that truth sink into your heart today: you are not forgotten, you are not abandoned. The blood of Jesus speaks for you right now before the throne of Almighty God!
When you feel condemned, remember Christ is advocating for you.
3. Jesus’ Salvation Is Available to All
John 6:37 (NLT): "However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them."
In ancient times, kings were often unapproachable. Yet Jesus, King of Kings, welcomes all who come.
Imagine a child running into the open arms of a loving parent. That's how Christ receives repentant sinners.
Tim Keller said, *"The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope."
No one is too lost, too broken, or too sinful to be saved.
