Being 'given' means spending your life out of love for Jesus, living for the world, and continuing the circle of grace. It's about surrendering to Jesus and allowing Him to use us for the sake of the world.

Youth Sermon: Given

Introduction

Imagine your life is like a loaf of bread. Now, bread on its own is pretty ordinary, right? But what happens when we give it to Jesus? It becomes something extraordinary.

Let's look at a story from the Bible, in Luke 24:30-32. It says, 'When Jesus was at the table with them, He took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. Their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him.' This is the third time Jesus does this in Luke's gospel. It's like He's showing us that our ordinary lives can be used for extraordinary things.

It's like He's showing us that our ordinary lives can be used for extraordinary things.

What does it mean to be 'given'?

To be given is to spend your life out of love for Jesus. Think about it. Why do we do nice things for our friends? Because we love them, right? It's the same with Jesus. Our love for Him makes us want to serve others.

To be given is to live for the world. Jesus didn't just hang out with the religious folks. He was there for everyone. He listened, He cared, He loved. We can do the same. We can be there for our friends, our family, even that weird kid in the back of the class.

To be given is to continue the circle of grace. You know that feeling when someone does something nice for you, and you want to do something nice for someone else? That's what grace is like. God's grace to us makes us want to show grace to others.

Conclusion

So, what does this mean for us? It means that even though we might feel ordinary, with Jesus, we can do extraordinary things. We can show love to others, we can be there for the world, and we can spread grace like butter on toast.

Let's pray together. God, help us to see our lives as bread that You can use. Help us to love others, to be there for the world, and to spread Your grace. Amen.
