FRANKENSTEIN, WHAT AM I CREATING?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

TEXT:

Job 17:9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou

also be tempted.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

I. WE ARE A SUM TOTAL OF WHAT OUR MENIAL DAILY CHOICES ARE.

A. What is 3+2+6+8=19? 19 is the sum total of these 4 numbers.

Seems we can understand the sum total in Mathematics, but not the daily spiritual sum totals?

B. A man was walking toward the death chambers of the Florida Prison.

A reporter asked him for a comment.

He turned and said: I AM WHAT I AM BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I CHOOSE TO BE.

What a powerful comment this man made?

II. SO WHAT? THIS A FACT! BUT SO WHAT?

Can we change facts? Why or why not?

A. Create:

To bring into existence.

To father or parent.

To bring into being by mental, artistic, or spiritual means.

B. Only God can procreate.

God can make something out of nothing.

C. Satan challenged God to create another man.

God said that would be easy, you go first Satan.

Satan kneeled down and started molding dirt, and God stopped him.

That is my dirt, you have to make your own.

The enemy could not create anything.

Only God has absolute creative powers.

III. WHEN WE REFER TO FRANKENSTEIN, WE ARE MAKING A STATEMENT.

A. Frankenstein:

The title character in Mary W. Shelley’s novel FRANKENSTEIN.

B. Frankenstein is one who creates a monster by which he is eventually killed.

C. A monstrous creation.

D. A work or agency that ruins its originator.

IV. GOD GIVES YOU LIFE, 60 MINUTES AN HOUR, 1440 MINUTES A DAY, 24 HOURS A DAY, 168 HOURS A WEEK, 8736 HOURS A YEAR --- GOD’S GIFT TO YOU IS TIME.

WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR TIME CAN BECOME YOUR GIFT BACK TO GOD?

A. WHAT YOU LOVE YOU WILL FIND TIME FOR?

B. WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE INVESTED?

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

V. WITH A CHECKING ACCOUNT, YOU MUST HAVE DEPOSITED ENOUGH TO COVER THE CHECK.

A. Did you hear about the Bank calling the lady, they said Honey, your bank account is overdrawn.

The lady said it can’t be, I still have two books of checks left.

KJV...

Philippians. 4:17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

NIV

Philippians. 4:17 Not that am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.

LB

Philippians 4:17 But though I appreciate your gifts, what makes me happiest is the well-earned reward you will have because of your kindness.

B. Every man must live with the man he makes of himself.

C. Of what are you made?

Difficulty and obstacles are but the things that show what you are made of….

VI. GOD NEVER MADE YOU WHAT YOU ARE ...

YOU MADE DAILY CHOICES TO MAKE YOU WHAT YOU HAVE BECOME.

Proverbs 20:11 The character of even a child can be known by the way he acts-- whether what he does is pure and right.

A. We think….we establish thinking and behavior patterns.

As we think we establish attitudes and choices about what we will do with the facts.

B. We establish real reaction patterns, we will react in certain norms.

C. Addiction and poor habits are freedom out of control.

Addiction is a tragic result or consequence of out of control behavior.

VII. BLESSED IS HE WHO EXPECTS NOTHING, FOR HE SHALL RECEIVEN EXACTLY AS HE EXPECTED. DOES A MAN THINK WITH HIS HEAD OR HIS HEART? OR BOTH?

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Philippians. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

A. When I taught school I had a very smart boy, he was very capable.
