Summary: Did Israel just believe and do nothing, or did they act in faith regarding Jericho? Let's look at Joshua 6.
What was Joshua’s curse on builders who later rebuilt Jericho?
Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.” So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land. (Joshua 6:26-27 WEB)
Through Elisha the prophet, did God eventually lift the curse on Jericho?
The citizens said to Elisha, “As you can see, sir, this city is in a good location, but the water is bad, and the land causes miscarriages.” He said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put some salt in it.” They did so. Elisha then went out and threw salt into the spring. He said, “This is what the Lord has said: I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death and miscarriage.” The water has stayed pure right up to this very day, in agreement with the word that Elisha spoke. (2 Kings 2:19-22 CEB)
Why did the walls of Jericho fall? Did Israel have a faith that acted or just a passive, do nothing belief?
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. (Hebrews 11:30 ESV)
What happened to Jericho? Did Israel just believe or put their faith into action? You decide!
