Facing Impossible Task, Big Shoes To Fill

I CAN'T DO THIS? BIG SHOES TO FILL? THIS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE JOB... I CAN'T

In the ocean, along the coast lines that are TERRIBLE CURRENTS called RIP-TIDES.

Others call these "SNEAKER WAVES." These waves are dangerous because you can not

always see them. These waves can carry you great distance, and no matter what effort you put

forth, these wave can quietly take you to your death.

TEXT:

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen

thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of

the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall

see them again no more for ever.

[14] The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

I. BEWARE OF THE SNEAKER WAVES THAT TELL YOU: YOU CAN NOT DO THIS...

SHALL WE LOOK AT GOD'S WORK AS IMPOSSIBLE? I CAN'T DO THIS? WHO COULD?

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE TO FOLLOW A MIGHTY MAN OF GOD?

JOSHUA HAD BEEN A FAITHFUL FOLLOWER, AND POURED WATER ON THE HANDS OF

GOD'S MAN...

GOD GOES BEFORE HIS MAN... GOD'S CALL MAKES GOD'S WORK EASIER...

A. THERE IS GOING TO BE A BIG PARADIGM SHIFT...

A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE AND A CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP...

B. Moses has run the torch as far as he could, now it was time to ACKNOWLEDGE GOD'S

MIGHTY MOVE WILL CONTINUE...

Deut. 31:1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

[2] And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go

out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

[3] The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before

thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath said.

C. There is a wonder word of encouragement that GOD IS NOT FINISIHED WITH HIS CHILDREN...

THE LORD WILL GO BEFORE US...

Deut. 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God,

he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

[7] And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a

good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their

fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

[8] And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither

forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

D. Do you know how big a shadow MOSES CAST? I WOULD HATE TO TRY TO FILL THE

MAN OF GOD MOSES' SHOES...

1. 40 years Moses thought he was SOMETHING!

2. 40 years Moses in the desert thought HE WAS A NOBODY...

3. 40 years Moses LEARNED GOD WAS EVERYTHING...

Deut. 34:7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim,

nor his natural force abated.

E. WE MUST NOT SEE THE CALL BEFORE US AS IMPOSSIBLE, WE MUST TRUST THE

UNSEEN HAND THAT GOES BEFORE US...

Deut. 34:9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his

hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded

Moses.

D. MOSES WAS A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW...

BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT MOSES, THIS IS ABOUT GOD...

Deut. 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew

face to face,

E. GOD IS COUNTING ON US TO ADVANCE THE TORCH... IT IS NOT PERFORMANCE BASED,

THIS IS CLEARLY ABOUT GOD, HIS WORD, AND GOD'S PROMISES AND PLANS FOR US...

II. WHEN GOD CALLS --- HE QUALIFIES AND HIS PLAN ENABLES... WE HAVE A PROMISE...

WILL WE CLAIM OUR PROMISE? WILL WE ALLOW THE RIP TIDE TO TAKE US AWAY

FROM GOD'S PLAN?

A. MOSES SAW THE PROMISE... FROM THE TOP OF MOUNT NEBO...

JOSHUA, GOD'S CALL IS FOR YOU TO POSSESS THE PROMISE LAND...

WALK, BOY, WALK...
