I CAN'T DO THIS? BIG SHOES TO FILL? THIS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE JOB... I CAN'T

In the ocean, along the coast lines that are TERRIBLE CURRENTS called RIP-TIDES.
Others call these "SNEAKER WAVES." These waves are dangerous because you can not
always see them. These waves can carry you great distance, and no matter what effort you put
forth, these wave can quietly take you to your death.
TEXT:
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen
thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of
the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall
see them again no more for ever.
[14] The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
I. BEWARE OF THE SNEAKER WAVES THAT TELL YOU: YOU CAN NOT DO THIS...
SHALL WE LOOK AT GOD'S WORK AS IMPOSSIBLE? I CAN'T DO THIS? WHO COULD?
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE TO FOLLOW A MIGHTY MAN OF GOD?
JOSHUA HAD BEEN A FAITHFUL FOLLOWER, AND POURED WATER ON THE HANDS OF
GOD'S MAN...
GOD GOES BEFORE HIS MAN... GOD'S CALL MAKES GOD'S WORK EASIER...
A. THERE IS GOING TO BE A BIG PARADIGM SHIFT...
A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE AND A CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP...
B. Moses has run the torch as far as he could, now it was time to ACKNOWLEDGE GOD'S
MIGHTY MOVE WILL CONTINUE...
Deut. 31:1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.
[2] And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go
out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
[3] The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before
thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath said.
C. There is a wonder word of encouragement that GOD IS NOT FINISIHED WITH HIS CHILDREN...
THE LORD WILL GO BEFORE US...
Deut. 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God,
he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
[7] And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a
good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their
fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.
[8] And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither
forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
D. Do you know how big a shadow MOSES CAST? I WOULD HATE TO TRY TO FILL THE
MAN OF GOD MOSES' SHOES...
1. 40 years Moses thought he was SOMETHING!
2. 40 years Moses in the desert thought HE WAS A NOBODY...
3. 40 years Moses LEARNED GOD WAS EVERYTHING...
Deut. 34:7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim,
nor his natural force abated.
E. WE MUST NOT SEE THE CALL BEFORE US AS IMPOSSIBLE, WE MUST TRUST THE
UNSEEN HAND THAT GOES BEFORE US...
Deut. 34:9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his
hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded
Moses.
D. MOSES WAS A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW...
BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT MOSES, THIS IS ABOUT GOD...
Deut. 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew
face to face,
E. GOD IS COUNTING ON US TO ADVANCE THE TORCH... IT IS NOT PERFORMANCE BASED,
THIS IS CLEARLY ABOUT GOD, HIS WORD, AND GOD'S PROMISES AND PLANS FOR US...
II. WHEN GOD CALLS --- HE QUALIFIES AND HIS PLAN ENABLES... WE HAVE A PROMISE...
WILL WE CLAIM OUR PROMISE? WILL WE ALLOW THE RIP TIDE TO TAKE US AWAY
FROM GOD'S PLAN?
A. MOSES SAW THE PROMISE... FROM THE TOP OF MOUNT NEBO...
JOSHUA, GOD'S CALL IS FOR YOU TO POSSESS THE PROMISE LAND...
WALK, BOY, WALK...
Joshua 1:2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this
people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
[3] Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto
Moses.
B. GOD PROMISES NO FAILURE IF YOU STAY WITHIN THE CALL...
Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was
with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
III. HOW CAN WE DO THIS? JOSHUA CALLING SEEMS TO BE IMPOSSIBLE...
THE CALL IS IMPOSSIBLE FROM THE PERFORMANCE MODE...
GOD CALLS HIS MAN TO OPERATE IN THE REALM OF THE SPIRIT...
A. ABIDE WITHIN THE PROMISE... FAITH NOT FEAR...
Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance
the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
B. HOW CAN YOU SINK THROUGH A SOLID ROCK?
Joshua 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to
all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left,
that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
C. It all depends on what you do with GOD'S WORD... HAVE A GOOD SUCCESS...
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day
and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt
make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
IV. GOD'S DIRECTION IS NOT OPTIONAL, IT IS MANDATORY. TODAY WE DO NOT LIKE
ORDERS AND COMMANDS... GOD DOES... today God will show all...
A. We love God, we will follow him wholely...
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be
thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
B. We make the promise to follow the promise.
Joshua 1:16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and
whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
C. The people WILL KNOW... NOT THINK SO, BUT KNOW SO...
Joshua 3:7 And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all
Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.
V. GOD SHOWS HIS PEOPLE --- HE IS GOD --- GOD CALLS WHO HE WILLS...
THE ENEMY CAN NOT STOP GOD...
A. GIIDEON: the smallest of the poorest...
Judges 6:15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is
poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
God sees Gideon differently...
Judges 6:12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with
thee, thou mighty man of valour.
GOD WILL MOVE IN MORE THAN PERFORMANCE, GOD WILL MOVE BY HIS SPIRIT...
B. WHEN THE ENEMIES ARISE, GOD WILL SHOW HIS STUFF...
DON'T BLAME THE PREACHER...
1 Kings 18:17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him,
Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
JEZEBEL AND AHAB VOW TO STOP THE MESSENGER AND THE MESSAGE.
1 Kings 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and
more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
JEZEBEL THE DOGS SHALL LICK YOUR HUSBANDS BLOOD, AND JEZEBEL, NOT TO WORRY
THE DOGS WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU...
THE DOGS LEAVE HER HANDS AND HEAD FOR IDENTIFICATION.
C. JOB, YOU ARE A LOSER, WITH A BIG L ON YOUR HEAD...
Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave
Job twice as much as he had before.
Job 42:12 So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen
thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
D. PAUL YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE ...
Acts 23:12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a
curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
PAUL IS ASSURED THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TROUBLE...
Acts 23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou
hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
Conclusion: DELIVERANCE BELONGS TO GOD'S CHILDREN, NOT BY OUR PERFORMANCE
BUT BY HIS GRACE...
I was going through a DARK DAY I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND...
I had a dream. Six small snakes had their fangs buried in my right hand.
I took my left hand, pulled the small snakes off my hand and carried them to an INFIRMARY...
The nurse did not know if the 6 small snake would be fatal.
I started feeling strange, I unbuttoned my shirt, there was a huge snake waped around me.
His fangs were buried in my heart.
The nurse said: THAT IS FATAL...
I got up and walked into our front room where the fireplace was burning.
I opened my Bible to Job, I could only read one verse...
Job 5:19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
Living Bible
Job 5:19 He will deliver you again and again so that no evil can touch you.
Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve
the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
