Christianity is Just a Crutch

"Life is fine the way it is. I have no need of anything. I can stand on my own two feet. I don't need Jesus Christ."

For what advantage is it to a person if they gain the whole world, yet lose their soul? Luke 9:25

Health, family, material possessions, they can all be gone in a heartbeat. The things in this world are very tempting as crutches.

There are too Many Hypocrites

There are many people who claim to be one thing but then live another. Hypocrisy vs. sin

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. (Matthew 23:13)

When we refuse to deal with sin and seek forgiveness, and then hold others to a standard we refuse to meet...hypocrisy.

I'm a Good Person

Why should I become a Christian-I'm already good enough to go to heaven, I certainly deserve to go there.

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Anything short of perfect, fails. That's why we need grace. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

I will Never be Good Enough

"I'm not good enough now to be a Christian-I still have some bad habits. But when I stop doing these things, then I'll be good enough to be a Christian". You are right, you will never be good enough. Thankfully Jesus was perfect and He died on our behalf. "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2Corinthians 5:21)

Life is Just to Busy to Fully Commit

People can always find a reason not to respond. Busyness, family, just not the right time.

"Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family". Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."" Luke 9:61-62

I Am Not a Religious Person

People are turned off by religion. Rightly so. Being a Christion is about a relationship not a religious tradition.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

If There Were a God, Why Would He allow evil?

We live in a world that is fallen, it is corrupted because of sin. Diseases, natural disasters, crime, death. Satan is the prince of this world. "The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." (Genesis 6:5)

God Doesn't Send Good People to Hell

Stereotypes of hell that are all wrong. "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murders, the sexually immoral, those who practice the magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." (Revelations 21:8)
