I. EXORDIUM:
Elihu is a type of CHRIST to show us that any believer who reverentially fears and worships GOD can be a type of CHRIST.
(I John 4:17)
1 John 4:17
In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion {and} attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.
"because as He is, so are we in this world."
II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:
Believers/unbelievers
III. OBJECTIVES:
To show that we can be righteous like CHRIST for this is imparted righteousness of GOD through JESUS in our lives not self-righteous, but JESUS-Righteous.
IV. TEXT:
Amplified Bible
Job 32:2 Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became indignant. His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].
King James Version
Job 32:2 Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
V. THESIS:
Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are high above the Heavens and here on earth we're just like You. 1 John 4:17 - "because as JESUS is, so are we in this world." .. so am I in this world.
VI. TITLE:
Elihu Is A Type Of CHRIST
VII. EXPLICATION:
Some background proofs:
1. Elihu appeared suddenly from nowhere but we can trace his ancestry back from Abraham's brother.
Genesis 22:21 Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,
2. Suddenly Elihu appeared angry with Job, neither mentioned as a friend or relative of Job. GOD clearly vindicated Job and condemns condemns Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. GOD never said anything about Elihu. (Job 42:7-8)
Job 42:7 After the Lord had spoken the previous words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job has.
Job 42:8 Now therefore take seven bullocks and seven rams and go to My servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept [his prayer] that I deal not with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job has.
3. Referred by the Bible as the 5th man
Job 32:1 SO THESE three men ceased to answer Job, because he was [rigidly] righteous (upright and in right standing with God) in his own eyes. [But there was a fifth man there also.]
Job 32:2 Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became indignant. His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].
4. Elihu means "GOD of him" him means his soul from the Hebrew: "eliyhu" most probably transliterated as "GOD of Job"
VIII. MAIN BODY:
Parallelism of CHRIST and Elihu:
1. CHRIST is our Mediator (Hebrews 9:15). Elihu mediated between GOD and man. (Job 32:2b)
Hebrews 9:15 [Christ, the Messiah] is therefore the Negotiator {and} Mediator of an [entirely] new agreement (testament, covenant), so that those who are called {and} offered it may receive the fulfillment of the promised everlasting inheritance--since a death has taken place which rescues {and} delivers {and} redeems them from the transgressions committed under the [old] first agreement.
Job 32:2b
His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].
Put GOD first, let GOD increase and yourself decrease. John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. I make GOD enlarge and higher in my life and I decrease and make low until myself is no longer seen.
2. CHRIST has revealed GOD’s righteousness (Isa 51:5;Isa 45:19)
Isaiah 51:5 My rightness {and} justice are near, My salvation is going forth, and My arms shall rule the peoples; the islands shall wait for {and} expect Me, and on My arm shall they trust {and} wait with hope.
Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a corner of the land of darkness; I did not call the descendants of Jacob [to a fruitless service], saying, Seek Me for nothing [but I promised them a just reward]. I, the Lord, speak righteousness (the truth--trustworthy, straightforward correspondence between deeds and words); I declare things that are right.
Elihu said :
Job 34:11 For according to the deeds of a man God will [exactly] proportion his pay, and He will cause every man to find [recompense] according to his ways.
