Summary: To show that we can be righteous like CHRIST for this is imparted righteousness of GOD through JESUS in our lives not self-righteous, but JESUS-Righteous.

I. EXORDIUM:

Elihu is a type of CHRIST to show us that any believer who reverentially fears and worships GOD can be a type of CHRIST.

(I John 4:17)

1 John 4:17

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion {and} attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

"because as He is, so are we in this world."

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers/unbelievers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that we can be righteous like CHRIST for this is imparted righteousness of GOD through JESUS in our lives not self-righteous, but JESUS-Righteous.

IV. TEXT:

Amplified Bible

Job 32:2 Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became indignant. His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].

King James Version

Job 32:2  Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are high above the Heavens and here on earth we're just like You. 1 John 4:17 - "because as JESUS is, so are we in this world." .. so am I in this world.

VI. TITLE:

Elihu Is A Type Of CHRIST

VII. EXPLICATION:

Some background proofs:

1. Elihu appeared suddenly from nowhere but we can trace his ancestry back from Abraham's brother.

Genesis 22:21 Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,

2. Suddenly Elihu appeared angry with Job, neither mentioned as a friend or relative of Job. GOD clearly vindicated Job and condemns condemns Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. GOD never said anything about Elihu. (Job 42:7-8)

Job 42:7 After the Lord had spoken the previous words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job has.

Job 42:8 Now therefore take seven bullocks and seven rams and go to My servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept [his prayer] that I deal not with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job has.

3. Referred by the Bible as the 5th man

Job 32:1 SO THESE three men ceased to answer Job, because he was [rigidly] righteous (upright and in right standing with God) in his own eyes. [But there was a fifth man there also.]

Job 32:2 Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became indignant. His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].

4. Elihu means "GOD of him" him means his soul from the Hebrew: "eliyhu" most probably transliterated as "GOD of Job"

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Parallelism of CHRIST and Elihu:

1. CHRIST is our Mediator (Hebrews 9:15). Elihu mediated between GOD and man. (Job 32:2b)

Hebrews 9:15 [Christ, the Messiah] is therefore the Negotiator {and} Mediator of an [entirely] new agreement (testament, covenant), so that those who are called {and} offered it may receive the fulfillment of the promised everlasting inheritance--since a death has taken place which rescues {and} delivers {and} redeems them from the transgressions committed under the [old] first agreement.

Job 32:2b

His indignation was kindled against Job because he justified himself rather than God [even made himself out to be better than God].

Put GOD first, let GOD increase and yourself decrease. John 3:30  He must increase, but I must decrease. I make GOD enlarge and higher in my life and I decrease and make low until myself is no longer seen.

2. CHRIST has revealed GOD’s righteousness (Isa 51:5;Isa 45:19)

Isaiah 51:5 My rightness {and} justice are near, My salvation is going forth, and My arms shall rule the peoples; the islands shall wait for {and} expect Me, and on My arm shall they trust {and} wait with hope.

Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a corner of the land of darkness; I did not call the descendants of Jacob [to a fruitless service], saying, Seek Me for nothing [but I promised them a just reward]. I, the Lord, speak righteousness (the truth--trustworthy, straightforward correspondence between deeds and words); I declare things that are right.

Elihu said :

Job 34:11 For according to the deeds of a man God will [exactly] proportion his pay, and He will cause every man to find [recompense] according to his ways.

Job 34:12 Truly God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

Romans 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

When we live from faith to faith, GOD's Righteousness is increased in us.

3. CHRIST is our Ransom (Mark 10:45)

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.

Job 32:2  Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

Job 33:12  Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

Job 33:24  Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

Ransom from Hebrew means: "a cover, satisfaction, a henna - used to dye., a bitumen - used for coating" and from Greek means: "something to loosen with, redemption price, figuratively atonement - to make one with GOD."

GOD place a henna or a dye upon and all of us to cover us until JESUS CHRIST is just seen in us and not us. GOD covers us with bitumen, a coating or paint all over so CHRIST will be revealed and not us.

Matthew 20:28

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

4. CHRIST will restore His righteousness by justifying us (Isa 53:11)

Isaiah 53:11 He shall see [the fruit] of the travail of His soul and be satisfied; by His knowledge of Himself [which He possesses and imparts to others] shall My [uncompromisingly] righteous One, My Servant, justify many {and} make many righteous (upright and in right standing with God), for He shall bear their iniquities {and} their guilt [with the consequences, says the Lord].

Job 33:26  He shall pray unto God, and He will be favourable unto him: and he shall see His face with joy: for He will render unto man his righteousness.

GOD through the Person of the LORD JESUS CHRIST will render or give away His Righteousness to each one of us.

Isaiah 54:17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness {or} the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in {and} through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

What we need is GOD's Righteousness within us that is JESUS CHRIST and not our righteousness for it will only be self-righteousness.

5. CHRIST will free souls of men from the Pit (Isa 42:7)

Isaiah 42:7 To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness from the prison.

Job 33:28  He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

Colossians 1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Colossians 1:13 [The Father] has delivered {and} drawn us to Himself out of the control {and} the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

ILLUSTRATION:

What if one time you worship the LORD with all your heart when suddenly GOD shows you the girl beside you has lived in adultery all these years? Will you continue to worship or worship GOD more or tell the girl she's an adulterer? I will worship GOD more who reveals these to babes

Psalms 8:2  Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

6. CHRIST is the light of life (John 8:12)

Job 33:28  He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

If we live in darkness, we will live in the light now because of JESUS.

7. CHRIST is the Arm of GOD (Isaiah 53:1, Isaiah 63:5)

Isaiah 63:5  And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

Isaiah 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Job 32:2  Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

Job 32:3  Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

Elihu never took side with Job or his 3 friends. Elihu takes sides with GOD.

Kindled means : "to glow or grow warm" like an arm of GOD.

Job 40:9  Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are high above the Heavens and here on earth we're just like You. 1 John 4:17 - "because as JESUS is, so are we in this world." .. so am I in this world.
