Christ is the Temple of the Living God!

1 Kings 8

PROPOSITION: Because Christ is the Temple of the living God, you can only come into God’s presence through Him.

I. Allow Christ to prepare you for His future heavenly temple! 1 Kings 6

A. God is in the process of building His temple (6:1).

1. The stones for the building were prepared.

2. The stones for the building took time to prepare.

B. God is in the process of shaping you for His temple (5:17-18; 1 Peter 2:5).

1. Christians will be the “living stones” of God’s spiritual house.

2. Christians will be shaped in God’s quarry for His spiritual house (1 Kings 6:9, 22).

II. Dedicate your life to Christ and His future heavenly temple! I Kings 8:1-61

A. God has summoned you to be brought to His temple (8:1-6).

1. The presence of God came to His people through a person, Jesus.

2. Jesus spoke of His body as a temple that would be destroyed and rebuilt in three days.

B. God wants to fill your temple with the Holy Spirit (8:7-11).

1. God breached the wall of separation and judgment through Christ.

2. Christ sent the Holy Spirit to indwell believers.

C. God can only be worshiped through Christ (8:12-61).

1. Solomon worships God through praise and prayer (8:12-53).

2. Solomon admonishes the people to worship God (8:54-61).
