Summary: A Chrismas message surrounding the precious name of Jesus.

Call His Name “Jesus”

Mathew 1:21

Reading: Philippians 2:5-11

Intro: Matthew 1:18-25

First we looked at the Names of Jesus, especially

Immanuel.

This week, I would like to concentrate on just the name Jesus.

We see it here in verse 21

I. It is a particular name.

A.Given to Mary, Luke 1:26-31

B.Given to Joseph, Matthew 1:21

C.Given to Men,

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

II. It is a powerful name.

A.A name that changed the world.

B.A name that calms the deepest fear.

C.A name that brings the highest hope.

D.A name that is more powerful than Satan devices.

E.A name that has power over all of sins condemnation.

F. A name that has the strength to conquer over all.

-The name of Jesus.

III. It is a pre-eminent name.

A. It is exalted above all other names.

B.It is exalted above all other nations and kingdoms.

1.It is superior to all

2.It is supreme over all.

3.It is Sufficient for all

4.It is seated above all.

Philippians 2:9-11

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

C. 0ne day you will bow down before his throne.

A Pre-eminent Name.

IV. It is a prayerful name.

A.Because of the promise.

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

b.That is why we pray…in Jesus Name.

c.It is through the name of Jesus that we are even allowed to approach the throne of God.

V. It is a precious name.

A.Because of what it means to us.

-Jehovah’s salvation.

B. Because is a name we can call on….

1. For salvation “For whosoever shall call upon the

name of the Lord shall be saved.

2.For help - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

Conclusion:

Have you called upon His Name?

He is waiting for you to call upon Him.
