Acts 9:10
Some of earth’s greatest are often unnoticed and unknown; they do their appointed work and then vanish
I. His Character
a. He was a disciple v10
i. One who sat at the feet of Jesus and thus able to teach him who sat at the feet of Gamaliel. He is not described as a pastor, evangelist or deacon – just a disciple.
b. He was a devout man 22:12
i. What need for such men – men of prayer
c. He was of good report
i. The world still has respect for those who walk with God
d. He was in close touch with the saints of God v13
i. He who is right with God will be right with the church
II. His Call – Ananias … I am here
a. His response was hearty – How oft God speaks to us and gets no answer
b. Prompt – Did not question WHY
c. Entire – He was all there – Often in our singing praying are we half hearted
III. His Orders – He is told
a. Where to go – street and house
b. When to go – he may have been in bed
c. To who to Go – Saul of Tarsus
d. Why to go – He prayed
e. What to say – Lay hands on him
IV. His fears
a. They were natural – he knew Saul was dangerous character
b. They were soon allayed – He is praying, he is blind, he is conquered
V. His Obedience
a. It was prompt – He went v17
b. It was exact – entered the house – put his hand on him
c. Faithful – The Lord that appeared unto thee … sent me
VI. His success
a. His scales fell off
b. He was baptized
i. With water and filled with the Holy Ghost 8:17
He passes from the stage but what a ministry and what a reward awaits him
