A Finish Course
Contributed by Rodney Johnson Sr., on Oct 28, 2010 (message contributor)
Summary: This sermon reminds us that we have a course to finish. No one will leave until his course is completed.
Intro. In our text, Paul shares his last experience with young Timothy. He has gone the last mile of the way. It is one last look out of the window. It is a final view of the sunset. His last days were spent in a prison. The dusty smell of the prison was indicative of his own demise. God lifted him above his cirumstance and brought before him a finish course and a crown of righteousness. It is noteworthy that Pau was more focused on the plight of the church then he was about himself. He wished for Timothy to preach the gospel with the same tenacity. Let us consider the following:
I. A Fix Mind. (Now ready)
II. Final Offering. (Ready to be offered)
III. Final Exit. (Time of my departure)
IV. Formiable Fight. (a good fight)
V. Final Course. (finish)
VI. Faithful Servant. (kept the faith)
VII.Future Anticipation. (Crown of Righteousness)
Conclusion: Indeed Paul fought the fight.... But Jesus finished the course at Calvary....
