By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

TEXT:

Hebrews 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND SIN WHICH DOTH SO EASILY BESET US, AND LET SO RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US...

Let us ponder Laying aside weight to attain victory.

This is the 3rd in series of Weight to remove, text, Heb. 12:1

I. REMOVE THE WEIGHT OF SIN.

II. Remove the weight of no evaluation.

I am wearing a backpack with 40 pounds of rock,

the first rock was labeled SIN. This rock is labeled EVALUATION.

I have a friend remove the one rock from my backpack,

I have painted the word SIN on the rock.

I have SIN the biggest rock, it is a little larger than three fist,

the rest are little bigger than soft ball size.

I note my load is getting lighter as I remove the weights.

#2REMOVE THE WEIGHT OF NO EVALUATION SYSTEM:

THE DOWNWARD TRAIL WILL LEAD ME TO BE WEAKER AND WEAKER IF THERE IS NO SYSTEM TO INSPECT MY BEHAVIOR, WORDS, AND DEEDS. --- DANGER.

We owe ourselves to develop a system to evaluate our daily behaviors and actions. We will not voluntarily submit to authority now days.

What system have you established to set priorities in your daily walk?

THE MAIN THING IS TO KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING!

Few of us seem to appraise value and we spend our time, effort, and money on games and trinkets.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO GOD?

Does God’s heart break for the same things your heart breaks for?

Are we just self-feeding?

Have we determined the significance of church? The family?

What is the value of a day?

A father will go fishing, or play golf and be very patient.

His precious son needs love and attention, and the father sees the value of

a golf ball more than a son?

What is the value of a good conscience? What if the conscience is seared with a hot iron? What if a conscience is smothered in ignorance?

Did you read about the guy in Texas that sold a rock for $5.00 to a man?

The man took the rock, and it appraised at $650,000? Why?

Did you hear about the guy that spent his money on a boat and had his house repossessed?

What is the value of honor and a good name?

Do you examine your church attendance? Your praise habits?

Do you self evaluate your prayer life? Your Bible reading?

Are you just drifting down stream?

Dead fish can swim down stream?

Are you learning? Are you growing?

Are you teaching? What are you teaching?

Do you consider the consequences of your choices?

What kind of fruit are you growing?

Ask another to evaluate you? No, way, we might see a weakness.

Quit bragging about your strengths?

Identify and correct your weaknesses.

III. REMOVE THE WEIGHT,

WHERE ARE YOU?

Gen. 3:9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him,... "WHERE ART THOU?"

HONEST EVALUATION?

Seems to me Adam did not identify the weaknesses and guard against them in his home? Adam never confessed and repented, he would not submit to inspection.

A tree is known my its fruit?

A child is known by it’s behavior?

How are you known?

Why not inspect your own fruit?

A. ASTRAY FROM GOD AND GOD’S PLAN.

B. A DIFFERENT DIRECTION FROM GOOD.

C. THE NEW FRIEND IS AN ENEMY ...

ill willed,

antagonistic,

conflict,

one seeking to injure,

harmful, not for good, foe,

D. BONDAGE AGAIN...

BOUND, CAPTIVE, CONTROLLING,

NOT FREE, SLAVE, GIVER OF PAIN.

E. LOST, WANDERING AIMLESSLY

F. FEAR, DOUBT, WORRY.

DECEITFULNESS,

BEING DECEIVED AND THEN DECEIVING ...

CHEAT ... LIE ... COVER UP...

HARDENS THE HEART....

NO EVALUATION SYSTEM,

NO FIXING VALUES ...

ESTABLISH WORTH...

HONEST APPRAISAL ---

SEEK FIRST WHAT --- PRIORITY SYSTEM?

ONE NEVER PLANS ON FAILING THEY FAIL TO PLAN... THUS FAILURE COMES....

WHERE ARE YOU?

BEWARE OF SUBTLETY

... hard to understand,

cheater...

Somewhere we must invest in a self evaluation system, or we will be doomed for failure. God has a plan, do you?

Will you check your works?

When I was a school teacher, my smarter student would finish a test and then take time to check and proofread. My slowest students always turned their test in without checking their work. Often times portions of the test were undone, they would not check their own work. God help us, we will be judged, God help us develop a system to correct problems before they are problems.

Why is there a dipstick in a motor?

Why are there gauges?

if you don’t pay attention, you will pay dearly.
