This is the opening sermon for a series based on The Book of Proverbs. I thought it would be a good idea to start a series based on the preeminent book of wisdom literature by discussing and defining what the book means by "wisdom" starting with the first chapter of The Book of Proverbs.

2. Choices Of The Heart

This the second sermon in a series based on The Book of Proverbs. Based on the TV game show "Let's Make a Deal," in which contestants struggle with the desire of their hearts -- to win "big" prizes or money, the choices we reveal the desires of our heart.

3. Sweet Temptation

Ah ... free will. The ability to choose/decide for ourselves what is right and good and what isn't. However, as Solomon points out, we also got 'temptation' along with it and he beautifully illustrates the tension of temptation in Proverbs 9 between Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly.

4. Like An Ox To The Slaughter

Wouldn't be nice if the choice we have to make in life where black and white, simple and clear cut ... but they aren't. In Proverbs 7, Solomon uses a 'spicy' way to discussing how Sin can be right up in our face and yet we can't see it ... until it's too late.
Last week we looked at Proverbs 9 in which Solomon contrasts Lady Wisdom with Lady Folly.
