I don’t know what you think of when you think of evangelism, but evangelism is reason powered by the Holy Spirit. Paul would consistently use the persuasive powers of reason as he talked to people about becoming a follower of Jesus Christ.

One law professor said that without lying and bragging, half the pickup lines in bars across the country wouldn’t exist. Churches are deliberately places where bragging is non-existent (about ourselves) and where grace is paramount.

Boasting or bragging is excluded because it elevates you to the pinnacle of importance. It’s sad to say this, but religion is a great place to do just this – to brag about one’s morality
