1. Psalm 119 - Verse 1 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 – The Walk Of Blessing For The Blameless One
Contributed on Jun 1, 2026
This is the start of a meditation in Psalm 119. We shall do this verse by verse, and each verse is one message, each shorter than my usual messages. Such wonderful thoughts have come out of this meditation and I hope you choose to follow the series. This time we look at BLESSING.
PSALM 119 - VERSE 1 - DELIGHTS AND MEDITATIONS FROM PSALM 119 – THE WALK OF BLESSING FOR THE BLAMELESS ONE Psalm 119! Apart from being the longest chapter in the bible in terms of verses, it is the most intense in references to God’s declared message to us, that is, the words of scripture. It ...read more

2. Psalm 119 - Verse 2 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 – Blessing For Those Who Observe And Seek
Contributed on Jun 2, 2026
Meditations in Psalm 119 continue, this time in verse 2 where we examine, OBSERVE and SEEK. This can be challenging, especially when the verse ends with “all their heart”. The verse begins with “How blessed,” and we look into those blessings for us.
VERSE 2 – BLESSING FOR THOSE WHO OBSERVE AND SEEK {{Psalm 119:2 “HOW BLESSED are those who OBSERVE His testimonies, who SEEK Him with ALL THEIR HEART.”}}. (KJV is “Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.”) [[TESTIMONIES = testimony (JKV = ...read more

3. Psalm 119 - Verse 3 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 – Unrighteousness Is Not Their Way
Contributed on Jun 3, 2026
Today’s verse says that those who seek God and observe His word do not walk in unrighteousness. We look at the contrast between the walk of the righteous and that of the unrighteous. Where does your delight lay?
VERSE 3 – UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT THEIR WAY {{Psalm 119:3 “They also do no unrighteousness. They walk in His ways.”}}. (The AV is “They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.”) Verse 3 follows on from verse 2 and speaks of those obedient to the expressed commands of God that are given for ...read more

4. Psalm 119 - Verse 4 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - The Reason God Ordained Precepts - Why? Why Diligently?
Contributed on Jun 5, 2026
In this next verse, we consider God’s precepts given for our spiritual and physical walk. Only the foolish would reject these but they will answer for that. God ordained all His precepts. We must keep them with all diligence. We must be serious about our faith. Peter says “be more diligent”.
VERSE 4. THE REASON GOD ORDAINED PRECEPTS - WHY? {{Psalm 119:4 “You have ordained Your precepts that we should keep them diligently.”}} (The AV says “Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.”) [[PRECEPTS = precepts, statutes, special conduct (JKV = precepts)]] There is a ...read more

5. Psalm 119 - Verse 5 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Ways That Are Established On A Strong Foundation
Contributed on Jun 5, 2026
I think it happens a lot that the great desire to be close to the Lord, at His feet as it were, when we are young, fades as life advances. That is a shame. David wanted to be established (firm and secure) so he would not waver from service for God and from a walk of faithfulness.
VERSE 5. WAYS THAT ARE ESTABLISHED ON A STRONG FOUNDATION {{Psalm 119:5 “Oh that my ways MAY BE ESTABLISHED to keep Your statutes!”}}. (The AV is “O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!”) [[STATUTES = action prescribed, ordinance, enactments, decree (KJV = statutes)]] This verse is ...read more

6. Psalm 119 - Verse 6 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Being Established Means Not Being Ashamed Before God
Contributed on Jun 10, 2026
What is shame, and its outcomes? We look at conscience and how that operates. Not being ashamed in the Lord’s presence is a goal we must pursue in spite of the burden and hindrance of sin. God’s word will cause us not to be ashamed. In heaven, changed from sinfulness to utmost purity.
VERSE 6. BEING ESTABLISHED MEANS NOT BEING ASHAMED BEFORE GOD {{Psalm 119:6 “THEN I shall NOT BE ASHAMED when I look upon all Your commandments.”}}. (The AV is “Then I would not be ashamed when I look into all Your commandments.”) [[COMMANDMENTS = commands, code of wisdom, instruction (KJV – ...read more

7. Psalm 119 - Verse 7 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Learning Righteousness Leads To Thankfulness
Contributed on Jun 10, 2026
Here we will look at the righteousness of God that so many question. That righteousness results in judgement and David gives thanks for these judgments of righteousness. How do these acts of God affect us? It needs to lead to praise, as it did for David in this verse 7.
VERSE 7. LEARNING RIGHTEOUSNESS LEADS TO THANKFULNESS {{Psalm 119:7 “I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart WHEN I learn Your righteous judgments.”}}. (The AV is “I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.”) [[JUDGEMENTS - ...read more

8. Psalm 119 - Verse 8 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - The Desire For Faithful Connection With The Lord
Contributed on Jun 11, 2026
The Psalmist’s request is that he won’t be forsaken by the Lord. The word “utterly” is used. He affirms that he keeps God’s statutes and these he truly follows. We look at the presence of the Holy Spirit with a believer and sealed and baptised by the Spirit.
VERSE 8. THE DESIRE FOR FAITHFUL CONNECTION WITH THE LORD {{Psalm 119:8 “I shall keep Your statutes. Do not forsake me utterly!”}}. (The KJV is “I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.”) [[STATUTES = action prescribed, ordinance, enactments, decree (KJV = statutes)]] The ...read more

9. Psalm 119 - Verse 9 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Straightforward And Strong Advice For Young Men
Contributed on Jun 11, 2026
We look at purity in the lives of young men. It is a critical matter in an immoral world. This theme is explored but the basis for overcoming is found only in the word of God. An adulterated world perceives as pure, what is unclean; what the bible sees as pure, the world makes unclean.
VERSE 9. STRAIGHTFORWARD AND STRONG ADVICE FOR YOUNG MEN {{Psalm 119:9 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By KEEPING it according to Your word.”}}. (The KJV is – “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”} Fail in the word of the Lord ...read more

10. Psalm 119 - Verse 10 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Personal Testimony Of Commitment And Request
Contributed on Jun 12, 2026
The psalmist’s huge desire was to seek the Lord WITH ALL HIS HEART. We look into this and also at our position on commitment. Also we take up King David and how he sought the Lord. It is so easy to be deceived and to fool ourselves. The word of God will test us, so embrace it fully.
VERSE 10. PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF COMMITMENT AND REQUEST {{Psalm 119:10 “With ALL MY HEART I have sought You. Do not let me wander from Your commandments.”}} (KJV = With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. [[COMMANDMENTS = commands, code of wisdom, ...read more

11. Psalm 119 - Verse 11 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Where Your Treasure Is There Will Your Heart Be Also
Contributed on Jun 12, 2026
Psalm 119:11 is one of the pivotal verses of scripture. Why is there failure among Christians? Why is there an inferior walk? It is because we have failed to hold the word of God in the correct place. The bible must be treasured in the inner part of us all. Important verse.
VERSE 11. WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS THERE YOUR HEART WILL BE ALSO {{Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have TREASURED IN MY HEART that I may not sin AGAINST YOU.”}} (KJV = “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”) This is a well-known verse and often quoted, but too often ...read more

12. Psalm 119 - Verse 12 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - God Is Honoured/Blessed But There Is A Request
Contributed on Jun 13, 2026
The Lord is blessed because He is majestic and we are people of His creation. Considering the greatness of God, then the psalmist wants to be taught the way of God including His decrees and statutes. We look at the amazing creation with fungi.
VERSE 12. GOD IS HONOURED/BLESSED BUT THERE IS A REQUEST {{Psalm 119:12 “Blessed are You, O LORD. Teach me Your statutes.”}} (KJV = Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.”) [[STATUTES = action prescribed, ordinance, enactments, decree]] Part way through this Psalm David pauses and ...read more

13. Psalm 119 - Verse 13 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Confession Of What God Has Declared – Sharing The Lord
Contributed on Jun 17, 2026
What we have received, we pass on. How can we remain silent? Is God’s salvation too little for us? Our responsibility is to proclaim the ordinances of God, to share His message to a lost world. David did not hide the message under a bushel, but spoke openly for his Lord. What a challenge!
VERSE 13. CONFESSION OF WHAT GOD HAS DECLARED – SHARING THE LORD {{Psalm 119:13 “With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of Your mouth.”}}. 14. Psalm 119 - Verse 14 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Walk According To The Way Of Divine Testimony And Don’t Let Riches Engulf You
Contributed on Jun 18, 2026
This interesting verse makes the comparison between the word of God and riches. How does that balance maintain itself in your life? What we will stress is that the psalmist loved the word so much that he rejoices in it. Do we rejoice in the words of the bible?
VERSE 14. WALK ACCORDING TO THE WAY OF DIVINE TESTIMONY AND DON’T LET RICHES ENGULF YOU {{Psalm 119:14 “I have REJOICED in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all RICHES.”}}. Contributed on Jun 19, 2026
David’s true character is in this verse. He wants to meditate on the word of God and then respectfully to follow the word’s teaching for it is from God. This is what helps establish any man or woman wanting to live correctly in the sight of God.
VERSE 15. THE DOUBLE PERSONAL DECISION FOR ACTION {{Psalm 119:15 “I will MEDITATE on Your precepts and REGARD Your ways.”}}. 16. Psalm 119 - Verse 16 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - Delighting In God’s Word And Remembering His Word
Contributed on Jun 19, 2026
You can’t forget God’s word if you don’t know God’s word. In this magnificent verse David states that his delight is in God’s statutes (in God’s declared word). Then he says he will not forget what God has declared and will not forget the scriptures. This is vital also for us to heed!
VERSE 16. DELIGHTING IN GOD’S WORD AND REMEMBERING HIS WORD Psalm 119:16 “I shall DELIGHT in Your statutes. I shall NOT FORGET Your word.”}} (KJV = “I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.”) [[STATUTES = action prescribed, ordinance, enactments, decree (KJV = ...read more

18. Psalm 119 - Verse 18 - Delights And Meditations From Psalm 119 - The Honest, Godly Request To Be Enlightened By The Word
Contributed on Jun 20, 2026
This verse is one of the greatest verses of the Psalms. OPEN MY EYES! The bible is a treasure box and we must have opened eyes to gather those divine treasures. Wonderful things are contained there and must be spiritually discerned. “Lord, open MY eyes to behold them.”
