So what is the purpose of lighting the whole room? Is it to enable outsiders to see how clean we are, perhaps to see our new carpet, our qualifications up on the wall or perhaps how beautiful we may look?

The first person to which we are introduced is the poor traveller. He had taken the road from Jerusalem to Jericho, which was notoriously dangerous. It descended nearly 3,300 feet in 17 miles, running through narrow passes at points.
