4. Why Pray?

David, the former king of Israel, writes a poem of praise to God. He tells us in verses one through four that God is worthy of our trust and He is worthy of our praise. David praises God for hearing our prayers.

6. Healing From Depression

The words of Psalm 38 have hands and feet. They climb all over you. They work their way into your heart and conscience, and will not be dislodged. In a word, David wrestled with a prominent emotion condition, his depression and his need for healing.

One of the mightiest emotions we have inside of us is our anger. We feel intense anger when something horribly wrong or unjust is done, say the sexual abuse of a child, or some blatant racial discrimination, or your wife has betrayed marriage vows and committed adultery with another person.
The Psalms are inspired by God and therefore meant to instruct us how to think about God and the entire world. The 278 words of Psalm 107 give of four different spectacular cases. At the heart of the Psalm are these four scenes. These four accounts of human experience deal with the realities of life in all of its fullness.
