A poem once declared "I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are, because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star." The story of Joseph tells of God's desire to make "could-be" of all His followers.

David committed adultery, and murder by proxie. And God brought a terrible but just judgment upon him that was rightly deserved. But then in Acts 13 we read that David was a man after God's own heart. How can that be?

There's a repetitive theme in Scripture: heroes and heroines of the Bible seemingly all go through the process of being given a vision by God, followed by the death of that vision, and ultimately the rebirth of that vision. How did that pattern apply to Jesus and how does it apply to us?
