YOUR SON, YOUR APPRENTICE
"Consider your son to be your apprentice in life. That’s the way it used to be. The son was always with the father, either in the shop or in the field. So he learned from a very early age what being a man and a father was all about. Now we place more emphasis on our

Illustration for Bible Knowledge (The Apostles’ Doctrine/Teaching) - Think of the Scriptures as an absolutely accurate map. A map tells you how to get to a certain destination. But just looking at a map won't automatically transport you to Arizona or England or Peru. Getting to those places means

FEAR OF FLYING
Some people are sacred to death of flying. To think of getting on airplane and taking off at 150 MPH, climb to an altitude of 30,000 feet and go 400 or so MPH, is a bit much.
Reminds me of the story told years ago about a flight of a four-engine jet plane. It was a lengthy flight

Proverbs According To Kids
A first grade teacher collected old, well known proverbs. She gave each kid in her class the first half of a proverb, and had them come up with the rest.
These are great:
As You Shall Make Your Bed So Shall You... Mess It Up.

The Pharisees and teachers of the law competed with one another in strictness. They had atomized God’s law into 613 rules and bolstered these with 1,521 emendations (Yancey 132).
We can see the length to which this went from the following facts. For many generations the Scribal Law was never

How Chicago Fire Started
On October 8, 1871, at about eight-thirty in the evening, a lantern in Mrs. O’Leary’s barn, presumably kicked over by her cow, ignited the great Chicago fire. The woman was milking her cow; and there was a little lamp of oil, a little flickering flame. The cow kicked over
