On November 26, 1977 I was given a wonderful gift by God, my wife Jan. Those early years of marriage we felt we were living ‘the abundant life’. But on August 17, 1981 I was given the greatest gift, this gift was priceless in nature. It was far greater than a promise to “go to heaven”. This

I heard a story of a missionary in Africa who received a knock on the door of his hut one afternoon. Answering, the missionary found a native boy holding a large fish in his hands. The boy said, "Reverend, you taught us what tithing is, so here. I've brought you my tithe." As the missionary

This past week, another and I hosted a Hospice luncheon at which the speaker was a woman named Elaine Magruder. Elaine is a nurse who lives in Midland, Texas, and she tells how God sent her to Vietnam to start the first hospice program there. To hear her story is truly inspirational.
Elaine says

Baseball season is fast approaching. I like the Mets. When the Mets won the World Series in 1969 they were dubbed, ‘the Amazing Mets’. Up until that year, the Mets didn’t have one winning season to their credit. The team they were facing in the series, the Baltimore Orioles, who had won 109 games

On facebook I have noticed that you have the opportunity of reading your HOROSCOPE for some kind of guidance each day. Apparently it was Empedocles, a fifth century BCE Greek philosopher, who started it all off when he originated the terms FIRE, EARTH, AIR, AND WATER associating them with a persons

I work in a building called THE SHALOM CENTRE in Sydney. Recently Kathryn, a Jewish girl said she found it unusual that we would call a building Shalom, since it is a Jewish term for saying HI AND GOODBYE. It literally means "PEACE BE WITH YOU". Shalom is a Biblical word.
This got me thinking and

I'm always fascinated by the stories of people who win large sums of money in lotteries. A large majority of whom wish they had never won.
Willie Hurt of Lansing, Mich., won $3.1 million in 1989. Two years later he was broke and charged with murder. His lawyer says Hurt spent his fortune on a

Through the years, I’ve officiated, or been involved, in hundreds of weddings … and I’ve pretty much seen the good, bad, and ugly.
* I remember one wedding where the three year old son of the bride was so taken with his new daddy-to-be, that he literally wrapped himself around the groom’s legs

"I THINK YOU'VE SEEN JESUS."
The real putting off and putting on is not so much about our determination to make improvements but about giving ourselves over to our Lord to do the real work in our lives.
In the children's book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, there is a particularly bad boy named

David Seamands: I heard a sermon based on the New Testament story of the Rich Young Ruler. You recall how the young man refused Jesus’ challenge to give away his possessions, take up his cross, and follow Jesus. The preacher accurately called him a millionaire, and then commented, "The poor fool!
