I was interested to read a comment by the golfer Tiger Woods this week. As we all know Tiger Woods had a spectacular fall from grace, so to speak. One minute he was this squeaky clean, highly paid sports star, the toast of the golfing world and the next it was revealed he was a serial adulterer,

The man came in and sat down. I'd say he was in his mid-thirties; he looked a bit rough around the edges and hadn't shaved for a few days. We introduced ourselves and the question was asked, "How are you surviving?"
"Well I can't get the benefit right now, so I'm doing a few

Tim Stafford of “Christianity Today” magazine said (September 14, 1992, p. 36): A pastor I know, Stephey Belynskyj, starts each confirmation class with a jar full of beans. He asks his students to guess how many beans are in the jar, and on a big pad of paper writes down their estimates.
Then,

Let’s begin understanding this name, /Adonai/ (אֲדֹנָי), meaning /Lord/, by going back to the Middle Ages. Picture a medieval manor. Peasants worked the surrounding fields. Craftsmen lived in the village. The manor house, maybe with a moat and watchtower,

LOT AND CORRUPTION
Her father gently tries to persuade her with promises of a better life. She cries and shudders but does not move. As tears stream down her face He becomes angry and manhandles her out the door. She becomes hysterical. A sharp slap across her faces shocks her into silence and she

In 2009 Picher Oklahoma closed it’s doors… the entire city closed, evacuated, and shut down. Once it was a town of 20,000 people… in the first quarter of 1900’s it was a boomtown and had abundant lead and zinc.
The Picher area became the most productive lead-zinc mining field in the Tri-State

HIS DANGEROUS CONDITION
A drunkard husband, spending the evening with his jovial companions at a tavern, boasted that if he should take a group of his friends home with him at midnight and ask his Christian wife to get up and cook supper for them, she would do it without complaint.
The crowd

THE DREAMS OF JAMES IRWIN
It started like so many evenings--Mom and Dad at home and Jimmy playing after dinner. Mom and Dad were absorbed with jobs and did not notice the time. It was a full moon, and some of the light seeped through the windows. Then Mom glanced at the clock. "Jimmy, it's time to

THE SEVEN STAGES OF A COLD--FOR MARRIED COUPLES
Though marriages are meant to last a lifetime, they can deteriorate rather quickly. I like what someone calls the seven stages of a cold for a married couple.
The First year of marriage, the husband says, "Honey, I’m worried about my little girl.

FORGIVENESS: LIKE A BELL TOLLING
Corrie ten Boom once told of being able to forget
a wrong that had been done to her. She had forgiven the person, but she kept rehashing the incident and so couldn’t sleep. Finally, she cried out to God for help in putting the problem to rest. She wrote this about
