Biblical Contradictions Found In The Catholic Church
Contributed by Michael Grant on Sep 4, 2016 (message contributor)
Catholics are instructed to call the priest “Father”
“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for one is your Father, He who is in heaven” – Mathew 23:9
Priest claims to have the power to forgive sin
“…who can forgive sins but God alone?” - Mark 2:7
Catholics are encouraged to bow and pray to statues
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image…you shall not bow down to them” – Exodus 20:4-5
When praying the Rosary, the same prayers are offered again and again and again
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do” – Matthew 6:7
The Catholic Church teaches Purgatory
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 5:8
The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is the head of the church
“And He (Christ) is the head of the body, the church” – Colossians 1:18
The Catholic Church teaches Mary remained a virgin for life
“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” – Mark 6:3
Catholics refer to Mary as the “Queen of Heaven”
“The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.” – Jeremiah 7:18
The Catholic Church teaches people ought to pray to Mary and the Saints
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” – 1 Timothy 2:5
The Catholic Church forbids priest and Bishops to marry
“If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife…” – 1 Timothy 3:1-2
The Catholic Church has taught that certain foods are not to be eaten on certain days (fish on Friday)
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” – 1 Timothy 4:1-3
