Christian Perfection
Contributed by John Bright on Jul 12, 2026 (message contributor)
We are part of the modern Methodists who are seeking to restore Christian Perfection as part of the journey for Jesus Followers. Here is a brief description from the Global Methodist Church: “Christian Perfection is Loving Like Jesus: John Wesley described the life of holiness as 'Christian perfection'—but not perfectionism or sinless perfection.
True holiness is:
• A passionate pursuit of God
• A life centered on loving Him and others
• The sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in us
Dennis Kinlaw put it this way: “Christian perfection is living a life whose sole desire is to perfectly love God and other people.” Some think holiness is restrictive or boring—but when you meet the real thing, it’s irresistible. It is to live and love like Jesus.”
