[311]. A Message From A Poem - Thoughts – Precious Ones From Hebrews

[311]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - THOUGHTS – PRECIOUS ONES FROM HEBREWS
This poem contains many references to verses in Hebrews. The book of Hebrews was written to Jews and that is why it has so many images of the Levitical priesthood and sacrifices. It was written by Paul and would be in line with his synagogue messages on his missionary journeys when he went to synagogues to try to get the Jews to see that Jesus is the Messiah.
I don’t think I want to list all the verses from Hebrews that are contained here. Rather, I would want you to read Hebrews and find them yourselves.
I am going to give two passages though, one from the opening couplet of the first stanza, and the other from the opening couplet of the last stanza.
“Let us run our race with patience
On the track before us set.”
{{Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”}}
“By the blood of Christ we enter
Through a new and living way.”
Hebrews 10:19-22 “Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”}}

THOUGHTS – PRECIOUS ONES FROM HEBREWS
Let us run our race with patience
On the track before us set.
Let us follow in the footsteps
Of the One who paid our debt.
Let us look ahead to Jesus,
For the path on which we run,
Is the one that’s blazed with vict’ry
With the trophies He has won.
=================
He’s the Author of salvation,
Purchased with His precious blood.
He’s our risen Priest who serves us;
Poured out mercies like a flood.
He’s more excellent than angels;
He is greater than all seers.
As the Son of God eternal,
He will reign above His peers.
=================
Do not falter in the pathway
Doubting Jesus Christ the Lord,
But with perseverance glowing,
Onward press to your reward.
For the One who called is faithful;
It is He who takes your hand;
Great High Priest of our confession,
He will always understand.
=================
Worthy of the greatest honour,
Jesus is the One we see.
Many sons have come to glory;
From their sins, released and free.
Not ashamed to call us brethren,
And as Great High Priest, to serve,
He’s the One who loves us truly
With a love we don’t deserve.
=================
Lower for a time than angels,
Jesus is the One we see.
Through His death, for us He suffered;
Crowned, He is with majesty.
Grace that was from God was streaming,
Tasting death for every one.
Many lives are brought to splendour;
Praise and glory to the Son.
=================
By the blood of Christ we enter
Through a new and living way.
Those with hearts sincere, draw near;
Confidence will be our stay.
How to urge in love, consider
Those whose faith is just the same;
Fellow members of God’s household;
Ones who claim His holy Name.
