(Say it rhythmically, not singing yet)

“Do you know this story?”

The ant and the rubber tree,

The ant and the rubber tree,

The ant and the rubber tree,

And the ant… went marching on…

(Pause)

“Do you remember what happens next?”

(Let them say it together: ‘And the ant… went marching on!’)

The Story

There once was a tiny ant walking past a VERY big rubber tree.

The tree was tall.

The tree was strong.

The tree laughed a little and said,

“Ant, you’re too small to do anything important.”

The ant looked up and said,

“If I keep going… I’ll get there.”

The wind blew.

The tree didn’t move.

The ant marched on.

Other ants said,

“Why don’t you stop?”

“You’re so small!”

“You’ll never make a difference!”

The ant said,

“If I stop, nothing happens.

If I keep going… something might.”

So the ant marched on.

Then one day — CRACK!

A storm came.

The rubber tree bent.

The roots loosened.

And the little ant walked right past where the tree used to stand.

The ant didn’t push the tree over.

The ant didn’t knock it down.

The ant just kept going.

>> Big Moment (connect IF)

The ant learned something important:

If I quit — nothing changes.

If I keep going — God can do something big.

>> Call-and-Response (high energy)

You say:

“If the ant is small…”

Kids say: “He still marches on!”

“If the tree is big…”

Kids: “The ant still marches on!”

“If it’s hard…”

Kids: “March on!”

(Do a gentle marching motion with feet or hands.)

>> Gentle Wrap-Up

“You don’t have to be big.

You don’t have to be loud.

You don’t have to be strong.

You just have to decide:

IF I keep going…”
