[205]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – ONE HAIR HERE AND ONE HAIR THERE

Well, well, well! How many of us are bald? How many are heading that way?

I remember when I was a kid my mother used to say to me, “Tell the barber to thin out your hair.” There used to be some sort of clippers that would do that. I think they must have cut small sections close to the scalp. I suppose the reason for that was maybe, my hair was thick, but that was a loooooong time ago and now . . . well now – I ask, “Where has all the hair gone?”

Just a few hairs falling out here, and a few falling out there, over the decades some of us have very little left. We all know it is part of the ageing process and even women suffer from the loss of hair. The medical term for hair loss is alopecia. Some people are vain about hair loss and resort to wearing wigs to disguise it.

This poem is a bit on the humorous side and I rarely write that sort of poem, as mine are more serious. One fact I allude to in the poem comes from this verse – {{Luke 12:7 “Indeed, THE VERY HAIRS OF YOUR HEAD ARE ALL NUMBERED. Do not fear. You are of more value than many sparrows.”}}

Another verse that is applicable is this one – {{Philippians 3:20-21 “Our citizenship is in heaven from which also we eagerly wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ WHO WILL TRANSFORM THE BODY OF OUR HUMBLE STATE into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”}}. The AV is much better known here – {{“Who shall change our vile body, that it may be FASHIONED LIKE UNTO HIS GLORIOUS BODY, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”}}

We will have new and glorious bodies at the Rapture in 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4, and those bodies are perfection.

For those men going bald – do not worry. You are in good company! You share something with Elisha. {{2 Kings 2:23 “Then he went up from there to Bethel and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you BALDHEAD. Go up, you baldhead!”}}

I hope you enjoy this poem, but just one piece of trivia first. Did you know that when men get older their head hair keeps falling out, but they start to grow hairs on the ears and the eyebrows thicken a bit, and nostril hair increases a bit? It is like the hair is migrating. ?

ONE HAIR HERE AND ONE HAIR THERE

The hairs of my head, God says are numbered,

But what an onus it is

For the one who must keep the accounting,

Because every day, the problem is,

The loss of hair keeps mounting.

===========================

Is it an angel who guards the tally?

It sure is a full time job.

On the pillow, and on the shower floor –

It’s enough to make an angel’s head throb –

Each time I look, more and more!

===========================

Some of my friends, on top, are well tufted,

But some of us look like eggs.

Genetically, that’s how we are disposed.

The “clear domes” have hair that has “taken legs”,

Which has left their tops exposed.

===========================

That’s the way it is with no turning back,

But it’s only a short while

Before to heaven, we zoom to that place,

And in that day I am going to smile,

‘Cause there’ll be perfect hair above my face.

===========================

These old bodies of ours will be remade

As perfection, we’ll possess -

No pain, or illness, or death, or weeping;

No heartaches or problems, and no distress,

Found in the Lord’s safe keeping.
